Would you turn down a piece you desired now in anticipation of W&W new releases?

With new releases just over a couple months away, would you hold off on purchasing anything new that you'd previously expressed interest in with your AD if offered right now?

No - worse case if something new comes out you like better, you can use it as trade bait with the AD.

no because realistically you're not gonna have much of a chance at the new piece anyway

I thought about addressing this possibility in the original post. Let's just assume you did have a chance at the new piece, for the sake of this question.

I would not postpone. If it's a piece I like and want and is offered, I would take it.

No.

If you get a call for a watch you have asked for at retail, I’d take it.

If you love the watch and requested it...take it.

Hot new releases are tough to get anyway.

The only exception would be if the the ghost of Hans Wilsdorf came to you in the night and told you the same exact model you want will be updated and improved (e.g. AK last year).

No. Not if you genuinely wanted the current one. Besides availability (a big “if”), Rolex would have to actually make a new watch you wanted more than the current one. If you genuinely like the current one, chances of Rolex releasing something you find you genuinely prefer is small. Is there something specific you’re hoping for? Or is it a “I like, but don’t love, any of the YG DD dials, maybe there will be a new one” kind of thing?

If I wanted a watch that was offered I would buy it.

No…. if something new came out, it would likely be years before you would be able get it. Might as well stay the course.

You will have little chance of getting anything new that is announced, at least for years.

Watches are not like technology where you want to buy an iPhone and the next one is 2 months away.

If I asked for something it's because I wanted it. If your always waiting for the next thing you'll be waiting forever as theres always another W&W around the corner.

Well, for a hot new piece at W&W you'll be #100,000,000 on the "list". Get what you want that's available now and let the future work itself out.

Imagine an AD calls you for a watch and you turn it down, then its discontinued at WW and you end up at the end of another list

Agree. Where would you draw the line anyways. If you are going to wait, why not wait till the 2024 releases?
