Vintage Rolex identification

Hi I have a vintage Rolex that requires some identification/background assistance and also possible value? I haven't been able to find much information online of the same watch.

It says brevat 6286 and has a dodecagon bezel.

Thanks

Rolex 6286 with repainted dial. Worth less than $1000 USD without a bracelet IMO.

Thanks for your reply. How do we know that it is a repainted dial?

Many reasons, but the most obvious for you would probably be the extreme misalignment between the painted and applied markers (look at 4 and 5 o'clock, for example). The lume is also missing and the hands are wrong.

Yes, concur with Dan on all that.

Might be worth photographing the Brevet + crown and the two sets of engravings between lugs to establish the case is correct and if model no is correct and year made. Brevet crowned watches would be Swiss Made or swiss dials not T Swiss T btw.

If so, you can get a secondhand dial/hands for £300-400 and a 19mm bracelet for £400-500 but it will probably not exceed £2000-2500, even when completed, as smaller pieces on / or under 34mm have lowish value and less demand.

Or just stick it on a leather strap and buckle and enjoy it for what it is.

Oh yes.... I missed that - 12 cutouts on bezel I've not come across ever.

I was just thinking the same thing, I’ve seen a lot of Rolex’s on the forum over the years and I’ve never seen a bezel like this. This was definitely a cobbled together piece, I’d be even more concerned about what movement is inside of it. It should be interesting to see.

Just because you are not familiar with the bezeld does not mean that it was cobbled up. The beveled bezel was common on this model. Plenty of examples on the net in Stainless and Gold..

Thanks. The closest thing I found would have been this post. I am doubtful that grandad would have gone through the effort to get it cobbled up as the watch was not his priority at all but I could be wrong. Just interested in knowing it's history.

Ive seen the bezel before, super cool. Ive never seen it on anything larger than 34mm, which is unfortunate. That bezel would look cool on a 36mm Explorer 1
