New to me-- 1989 5513 Submariner

It took a little financial gymnastics and risk on a low post seller, but my 1989 5513 was delivered on Monday. I love it. A full set with outer and inner box, original Rolex certificate, booklets and AD warranty. It was worth the risk and months of scouring TRF and other sites for the right watch. It's going to be a great summer!

Great looking watch! Congrats. Always sort of had an affinity for the late 5513s so much vintage appeal but not too old to be very usaeable. Nice one!

I like the dial. Looks like it has developed a bit of patina on the lume plots.

Agreed. I love the matte dials on the earlier models but really wanted as late as a reference I could find.

Same here- I love it. The late models are a great combo of vintage and modern.

Thanks. The dial is in great shape- no cracking or spidering. I'll be interested to see if the lume plots darken further. The previous owner said this spent much of its life in storage so I'm looking forward to seeing what the effects of sun and use could be.

The conventional wisdom seems to be that lume is more likely to darken when kept out of the sun, and that sunlight can bleach the lume. But my guess is that you probably won't see much change.

Lovely the gloss w.g. plexi models have become much sought after compared to 10 years ago (when we here were a bit sniffy) and I agree they are lovely - bit the same a small block 79260/79270/79380, also that have had a Renaissance too - btw as you no doubt aware, the White bottom writing Oyster and Sub booklets should of course be U. S . A. Booklets.
