Watch constantly unwinding
Hi all!
I’m a plumber so unfortunately I don’t get to wear my watch every day, I was wondering if it’s bad for my submariner to run out of power every week until I need to wind it leading into the weekend? I’d hate for it to be detrimental long term, any advice would be great:) Thankyou |

Having said, I truly believe it's a myth either way. Just wear it when you have chance and enjoy the life. |

Carry on as you are
Not wearing at work and having it run down is not an issue. A simple manual wind as required is not going to cause any detrimental issues to arise. Enjoy |

this is no problem at all. i have a nice-sized collection of watches and the only one that's ever wound is the one that's on my wrist (unless one or two happen to have some leftover power from when they were last worn.) enjoy your watch and don't worry about it.

You're 100% good, no worries. Wear when you choose and enjoy.

If you’re not wearing it for worry of hurting it. Please view this thread of my personal daily - Adventures of a Bluesy
https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/top...ink_source=app If you’re worried about it because you’re a residential plumber doing house calls and it’s be a bad look to customers. I get it and you watch should be fine winding down and then being rewound. I wouldn’t be surprised if the constant full wind from wearing my sub 24/7 would be more detrimental than letting it run down and then rewinding. My advice would be if it will not jeopardize your business or job, insure your watch and wear it with reckless abandon. Enjoy it every single chance you can, none of us know how long we’ve got. Wow. Caused a stir. I'm with Mr. Goat. I am not a plumber; a caddie. Clubs banging into my watch all the time. I've never thought about taking it off for work.

Perhaps you may want to look into a wind-up box for your automatic watch. I suggest the brand “Wolf” or “Orbita”.
I have used them for decades and it keeps all my watches optimally wound. In fact, I ran a Sub constantly on a winder or on my wrist for 15 years strait without it stopping without any additional internal wear or tear at its routine service. A wind up box is also a elegant and safe place to store your watch when it’s not on your wrist.. FYI: Plumbing or adjusting plumbing is one of the few task I absolutely remove my Rolex for. I have learned the hard way any time I get around porcelain to do work, I hit my Rolex on it. I can cut wood with a chainsaw and have no issues, but plumbing and it’s tight spaces guarantees I’m going to ding up whatever watch I’m wearing..

I have other watches that get a lot of wrist time, so my Submariner doesn't get worn every day. I just let it wind down until I wear it again.
One thing that's funny about TRF is that we have dozens and dozens of people that say you should never wear a Rolex to the office, but then a plumber is expected to wear his every day to work. LOL! I know. Perhaps different reasons, but it's still ironic. |

No need to worry about a weekend wind-up after it runs down. No harm to the movement.
But curious - would you consider a sweatband over your watch? Or, if not, putting it on upon returning home for those hours and remove it in the morning before heading to the course. I only caddied Gold Pro-Ams on Wednesdays for our tour stop. Obviously only for the Ams - my Expl. II had many a dent the first couple of years and then I started using a tennis sweatband.
