Rolex market updates
Thinking of purchasing a 2021 126711chnr at $19,600 sometime this week. Does anyone know how’s the market now? Don’t really wanna catch a falling knife since I know the prices have been dropping. Any thoughts are welcomed!

Some watch charts are helpful to give current market prices, watcharts is one, chrono 24 if you search for just that watch will gauge what they are going for too .. price quoted not bad ..

Hey, yeah I’ve been stalking watch charts. So far prices seems to have stabilised a bit and even increasing slightly but I guess really no one knows what comes in the next quarter or two

It's a beautiful watch! The price point is good . Just my opinion I would purchase watch because I'm ready and if the price jumps great and if it fall thats okay also. I think in the long run watch collecting is a great hobby sometimes expensive. The watch you picked is one of the best looking two tone watches that Rolex has produced. Best of luck with your purchase.

I did watch a really good Hodinkee program last year trying to predict future models and prices, big news was popularity again of yellow gold and two-tone …
My son in law has the CHNR and it really is such a nice watch, always difficult to predict market prices, if you feel the price is right then get it you won’t be disappointed ..

I would save that gun powder until May 2024. If by then prices don't fall drastically, heck, buy that Rootbear even for $20K. Because, if the already crumbling secondary grey market survives the upcoming recession all bets are off.

I know it is commonly said that counter intuitive to common belief that wealth is generated during recessions could it be said that Watch collections could be amassed during recessions as well? |

Generally, the watches are moving slow on the secondary market as the demand is nowhere near those 2020-2022 levels. The economy is in poor shape with massive inflation and it's just a matter of time when the market will see a major decline. I expect the effects to be visible starting November 2023 and show it's worst by May 2024. There's no way for the housing/stock and job market to just continue like nothing is going on in the real world. This is not a financial advice but my point of view and I would likely wait until next Spring when the market situation is more clear than to buy now and regret later if money is of any object. If not, buy now. |

After the spike and subsequent outbreak of sanity, the CHNR has been gliding along quite happily. If you ignore the spike, the trend is level-ish, maybe slightly upward.
It's a fantastic watch. If I was in the hunt I would be happily jumping into the current market. My only question would be why not ask an AD and wait? I didn't think they were that hard to come by at MSRP. Maybe this isn't the case anymore? |

Hard to believe I got my SS 166710ln at a 15% discount in 2009 for a price of 6303.01 out the door and 1 year interest free financing with 1k down. The msrp was 7k usd.

OP, why do you want to buy that specific reference no.? What is the msrp and do you really think it is worth paying the marked up prices? |

It's kinda like trying to time the stock market. You can never really predict what is about to happen. As suggested, find a good deal from a trusted seller and you will be fine.

Most are showing in the early to mid $20's, I say $19,600 you're getting a good deal.

Full set? I’ve see. A few of them go full set for 19 ish but they don’t seem to last long at that price.

Solid price to pull trigger on.
We always have doom and gloom posters here. Always claiming some point in the near future will change everything. Meh Don’t listen to those saying Rolex sport watches aren’t moving. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If the watch is for your enjoyment and not for resell, then buy it. I bought a watch last fall I wanted and I could get it cheaper now, but I don’t care for I like the watch and plan on keeping it.

I’m buying watches I want because many are finally available at palatable prices. If you’re going to get hurt by losing 25% or so then don’t buy. Truthfully I was buying through the run up as well because I’m a junkie.

Hard to say - except that the one element of pricing that can be controlled is Rolex supplying these watches.
Demand for these will always be there. Rolex watches tend to be bought by folks who don't care for the prices - thus, demand is price inelastic. It is unfortunate for people who want to buy one because of milestones. Practically, prices - while calming down from the highs of 2022, will continue to be about 25% above MSRP. |

Tough economic times ahead.
I am not buying anything right now. Watches are not essential items and the demand has been dropping bigtime. Especially for pieces $50k+ - very very very hard to move these to end users. |

Here is my take. If and when there is a big economic correction, the two tones will have the biggest percentage price adjustment, followed by the precious metals versions, while the all stainless steel versions will show the least price correction.

If you want the watch, you can afford it and you are certain you cannot buy one new from an AD, go for it. If you intend to keep and wear the watch long-term, what the used retail price really should be of no concern. If you buy this watch from a used watch dealer, there is a fairly stiff markup from their cost, so you will lose money on it whenever you sell it no matter what you paid unless the value goes up which is not too likely in the current or foreseeable market.
