I like both the Sylvain Pinaud Origine and the Auffret + Petermann Bedat collaboration. The Ludovic Ballouard Upside Down Blue is lovely. Also very keen to see what Rexhep Rexhepi and Patek come up with of course.

Interesting - Furlan Marri's perpetual calendar is made in partnership with the upcoming Julien Tixier and Dominique Renaud, who is the co-founder of Renaud & Papi.

The watch is a great size at 39mm and 11.3mm. Very interesting...

Will be an interesting few weeks ahead waiting for Only Watch's response. Patek has yet to reveal their watch, AP withdrawn, FP Journe open letter showing support for the charity founder, etc

You're most welcome

I have placed an order for the Origine without seeing the actual watch, hence this is a great opportunity for me to handle the watch in person. It didn't disappoint.

I'm also keen to possibly add an Upside Down (production version). This watch is interesting and there are no ADs partnering with Ludovic Ballouard here. This event gives me a lot of time to handle the watch. I'm quite a fan of this watch now

My pleasure

AP has pulled out of Only Watch and the Flying Tourbillon Openworked was not at the event yesterday. Nonetheless, we were only given 2 hours to handle the 50+ watches and there wasn't really enough time.

Oh that’s a bummer I didn’t realize they pulled out. And I can imagine that definitely not being enough time!

This is a collaboration between Theo Auffret and Petermann Bedat. Here is another pic of the front, and the back.

I don't get the Sylvain Pinaud Origine hype, looks like a Greubel Forsey Signature 1 rip off to me. The auffret collab looks brilliant.

https://www.onlywatch.com/postponeme...-watch-auction

"A few days before the auction, questions were raised about the allocation of funds and the governance of the AMM, an association of patients' families.

Answers were provided regarding the funding strategies chosen, the structures and projects supported, and the association's accounts and budget.

However, the time for certification, changes in governance and the imminent auction do not coincide. We cannot bring ourselves to cast doubt on the sincerity of the commitment of all the parties involved in this project, nor can we allow this wonderful story to be rewritten.

We want to continue to move forward in harmony with the community that has rallied around this unique and ambitious charitable and scientific project, and so we are today taking the decision to postpone the auction to 2024."

I think this will the last OW event. I don’t think the audit will show a clean money trail come 2024 and the auction will be postponed indefinitely. That’s my prediction. It’s just a very fancy press statement to tell people that they are doing their due diligence now to avoid further scrutiny.

Probably will be the last onlywatch to be later rebranded as onewatch or something similar for another disease

The postponement is disappointing to the charitable grantees methinks.

But as I said in the other thread (on the question being raised about the charitable grants), this will give time to get to the bottom of this question.

Swiss Watch Magazine has a very good write-up of the OnlyWatch situation. It is great to know one of the companies concerned has started human clinical trial on the first boy in June 2023. Hope we are not too far away from a cure.

https://swisswatches-magazine.com/bl...ure-is-rising/

"Now, all eyes are on Only Watch, and it is up to them to do everything they can to show that the funds have been properly utilised. It is important to note that SQY Therapeutics has already started a human clinical trial. On 14 June 2023, the first of 12 boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy received his first dose of the SQY51 compound at the Raymond Poincaré Hospital in Garches. The other eleven participants followed one after the other at intervals of at least one week. It is thus indisputably proven that funds were used to finance extensive research and development work. However, to dispel any doubts, Only Watch will need to return with leadership that can ensure the transparent continuation of the auction. To regain credibility, it will also be necessary for the Pettavinos to no longer be shareholders in SQY Therapeutics and for their shares to be sold to the parents’ associations (who initiated the foundation of the company)."

https://watchesbysjx.com/2024/04/pat...nly-watch.html

Patek Philippe’s original creation for the what was originally Only Watch 2023 was a unique version of the Minute Repeater Alarm ref. 1938P. After that got postponed to May this year, Patek Philippe replaced its original contribution with the ref. 6301A. Though only the dial differs from the standard version in terms of visuals, the ref. 6301A is strikingly different.

The official model name of the ref. 6301A describes it comprehensively: “Grande and Petite Sonnerie, Minute Repeater. Rare Handcrafts”. The watch has the same GS 36-750 PS IRM movement as found in the regular production model. This hand-wind calibre incorporates a grande and petite sonnerie function that strikes the time as it passes in full or quarter strike mode (a silent mode is also available). In addition, it has a minute repeater that chimes the time on demand, which is activated via the pusher in the crown.

The Rare Handcrafts aspect of the watch is the dial, which is finished with blue-green flinqué enamel. The dial starts as a blank of 18k gold that is then engine turned by hand on a manually-operated rose engine to create the swirling-spiral pattern. The guilloche surface is then covered with enamel paint and fired in an oven, creating a glossy, translucent surface that reveals the pattern below.

The dial is further dressed up with 12 indices for the hours, along with the subtle “Only One” label incorporated into the twin power reserve indicators. Interestingly, the dial does away with the leaf-shaped hands found on the standard model, and replaces them with dauphine hand for a more modern look.

Diameter: 44.8 mm
Height: 12.3 mm
Material: Stainless steel
Crystal: Sapphire
Water resistance: None, but humidity and dust resistant
