Why is this milgauss not being snapped up?

I’m trying to get a sense of the secondary market. This watch seems like it’s underpriced by at least 1k. What am I missing here?`

I thought this thread would contain some nice pix of a real Milgauss not a link to a sales thread on chrono24 selling the not so cool modern iteration… disappointed

Wrong section. Not Vintage. It's not very liked this watch with the blk dial even though some dealers are saying" Its gaining interest" after the discontinuation.

No box or papers, and mediocre condition. Oh, and not such a great-looking Rolex. That lightning-bolt hand .... no thanks.

Because unlike the sublime original ones, the last iteration was just a perpetual that's been to college!

Same reason the last lame'ish turn-o-graph has not gone nuts either.

Had both been 'professional' type watches (black dial/insert etc instead of dress watch style) as the two originals were eg 6541 and 6202 they'd have been snapped up at time and even more post discontinuation.

I personally think the lightning bolt hand is the only original and cool feature the modern watch to ape the glorious 6541

Here's the first model 6541 and others .... it's my absolute favourite Rolex ever but £250,000!

https://bespokeunit.com/watches/rolex/milgauss/

Ps it is v low (c 2019-21 price) even for a loose goose I agree - but as someone said China sale, no eBay type validation, no return, sales tax etc etc makes it risky proposition.

Agree with all of the above & I have to say I was disappointed trying one on. Top heavy and uncomfortable. Also some Omega are much more gauss-proof!!

Nothing, so far as I can see. You seemed to have summed it up concisely.

Great watch. Mine could be worth anything between nothing and multiples of its original MSRP. It won't make any difference to me. In time, it might make a difference to my children but that's their concern.

You're missing that it's a seller in China, who started listing on Chrono24 this year.

Most people try to de-risk their purchasing by "buying the seller" which in this case is impossible.

Not to mention, "If it's too good to be true, it probably is."

Maybe the OP is connected to the seller somehow????

As Bones McCoy used to say, "Risky, Jim."

Why is this milgauss not being snapped up?

It’s a cool watch but it has never really been that popular. It has definitely benefited from the high tide raises all ships in regards to these crazy prices

“Item needs to be procured” suggests to me that if you try and buy it, you’ll find that’s the start of the negotiation not the actual purchase done. Presumably they have access to the watch to pass the chrono 24 check but may be a consignment sale or similar.

I bought a new watch on chrono 24 once to find that after I completed the purchase, I just got a message after a while saying my order had been cancelled as the seller could not accept my “offer”. Despite the fact my “offer” was what they had listed it at. And that appeared to be a well established U.K. company.

Why is this milgauss not being snapped up?

I always found that to be the weirdest Rolex…..I know it has special antimagnetic properties, or something, but it’s just kind of ugly. That, and “no box or papers” is why it’s not selling.

Because there is no watch for sale.

Watch needs to be procured and delivery a month away.

For those chrono24 illiterate this means contact the “seller” and start negotiating on something they don’t have. Bet the house that if any watch ever does become a available suddenly the price is highly elevated.

Super low price drives clicks.

Reposting around social media drives more clicks.

This thread appears to be an extension of the initial fishing expedition, where asking the question is merely a ruse.

Buyer beware.

'No original box '- and the photo shows a correct period original box - is a bit of a motivational procurement dampener too !

A quality piece that is clearly underpriced will sell immediately in this market. You will get a feel for this with time by watching the classifieds on this forum and other reputable resellers. I do not recommend chrono 24 for this education.
