When watches were worn!

Here’s what 66 years of wear looks like. Not sure if it’s ever been polished - maybe those with keener eyes can chime in? One of the most cherished (my late grandfather’s) and most scratched watches in my collection

Share some pics of well loved watches if you have them!

Ehh my 16710 is only about 16 years old and isn’t too far off condition wise from OP’s picture.

It doesnt get babied flies with me around the world has several thousand flight hours and about 100 combat sorties under its belt.

Always decline a polish when serviced as there isn’t much point it will just get scratched and dinged up in no time again anyways.

Nice! The way it was meant to be!

Yes, it appears to have been polished..pretty apparent based on the rounded off fluted bezel.

Bet your grandfather couldn’t have forseen waiting lists, grey dealer premiums, buying history etc to get the watch he wanted

A simpler time

It looks to have been polished in the past based upon the rounding/leveling of the bezel motif. But this could have come from 66 years of rubbing against stuff too. Nice watch.

When watches were worn!

I’m not a one watch guy, so none of my watches get worn every day.

With that said, every watch I have gets worn and has about equal wrist time. I never go a day without wearing one.

Yes, the bezel seems that way. I wasn’t sure since I haven’t seen what a new one looked like back then.

Agreed, could just be the years of wear.

I’ll bet those combat sorties have a lot of stories to tell! Thank you for your service.

Here’s a recent pic. I still need to send it in for service and try to get what looks like water damage off the dial. I polished the acrylic crystal with polywatch, but I’m guessing it probably shrunk a bit, resulting in compromised water resistance.

Great to see a Rolex being used as intended instead of stuck in a safe and treated as a deity!!

Here’s a few pics of my daily. It’s been polished at least once in its life.

If you’re interested I’ve got an entire thread documenting some of the different things I’ve encountered in my life with my watch. Link is Adventures of a Bluesy

If you don’t like to click on links it’s listed under threads I’ve created as “Adventures of a Bluesy”.

I would never keep a deity in a safe.

I wonder if the same applies to homes, cars, clothes, etc.? A run down home is just well lived in! The junker car is just well driven!
