His username is rampagewatch, but I think he’s banned. He sends fake link to try to get you tap and sign in to steal your password. Beware

Just got a message from him, he embeds a hotlink into the RF link and ask you to click thru to, "confirm this is your listing" which will give him your RF log in details. It looks like this:
ht tps : / /w w w. rapidwine. eu/RolexWatch/RolexWatch/RolexForums. html

A$$hole.

Got the same e-mail this morning. I told him the url doesn’t match (not clicking the link) and asked why he can’t receive PMs. Now I know it’s because he’s banned. No response yet.

I was just coming here to start a thread about this user - drew64. These scammers are getting more sophisticated with their strategy. If you look at the account's relatively new history, they randomly reply to threads to build trustworthiness and waited a few months before doing anything. I got an email to contact them directly for a watch I'm currently listing.

I think they have more than a few usernames on the forum. My case was a response to my listing via "drew64" - which is not accepting my PM. Not sure if it's because the account is already banned on TRF.

Same here - I got a message asking to email them regarding my FS watch. I just ignored because I got a suspicious feeling from someone inquiring and asking to go straight to email / off TRF.

It is a good idea for members to turn on two factor authentication if you want some additional security. I think it's a good idea to enable on any website or platform offering it!

Being in the security industry, I don't know why TRF doesn't require 2FA by default. Especially when part of the forums deal with rather large financial transactions.

I found your comment here interesting. I had a similar experience lately and, although it indeed felt weird/ red flaggy, I couldn't really think of a specific reason why going email/ off TRF would be a problem. Just wondering if you could expand on that a bit. Thanks.

I googled the email and there was a post by an account on here called "rampage watch" that was flagged and removed. That and there were other accounts on Google that turned up with this email. Something just seemed off - so I ignored it. I'd imagine that at least initially some of the correspondence would take place on TRF via PM. Rather than someone immediately wanting to take it straight to email

But that's just me. I felt something was off so I ignored it. I do the same thing when I transact on other things on other platforms (ie. Go with my gut)

Here is a thread with info about setting up 2 Factor Authentication:

2 Factor Authentication

Be careful! There are several posts in the thread where members have lost access to their account because they lost or updated their smart phone. I set up Twilio Authy on both a smart phone and a laptop and have replaced both without any problem accessing TRF 2FA.

There's a back up code that you can write down and make sure you save in a safe place that can be used tor recover your account

Wristonly ripped me off for $11,500

I wired the $ to him, after I checked his references. But I think he had fake emails for the references. (composed the references himself ) I feel like such a fool.

I wired the money to a “Susan Ann Townley.”

Wrist only, a.k.a. “Justice Townley,” is the actual thief here. He just stole 11,500 from me. Above, it looks like he’s being a good citizen by reporting a fraud. In fact, this looks like cloaking behavior, that is, he’s the real felon! This is 100% real. Unlike him.

This is exactly what Wristonly (“Justice Townley”) just did to me! I just lost 11,500. He replied to posts, like this thread, to look legit!

Yes! That’s what so weird. I think he was calling out someone else for fraud — to set himself up/cloak his own behavior. Two years in the planning!

I bet he’s reading this right now, and guffawing, aren’t you “Justice Townley/“Wristonly”?

So yes, you’re right; he did, in fact, start this post. But I wired him 11.5k (!) for a watch and all I get is crickets!

Serialized scamming combined with a cloaking story.

So was this the Air-King he had listed?

No, it was a Lange 1815 , ref 223.026. But who knows if he really even owns it? I don’t think he did. FOMO really had me look past red flags, like stock photos, very low price, phone number always unanswered, etc. I’m absolutely sick over this loss of money.

This is why I was more than happy to pay a premium to one of the most trusted sellers on this site for a 116710BLNR I purchased a few weeks ago. The last thing I want to worry about is the kind of fraud you are describing. I do hope you get your money back.

Unfortunately, wristonly also got me (on the 1815 post). I trusted the email only references, and was too busy with work to go beyond those.

Definitely will be more cautious in the future. I have 10 years in the hobby and this is my first bad experience. Also really frustrated with myself, but all I can do is move on.
