NEW Rolex RSC/Retail Store coming to Los Angeles

Just wanted to let everyone know that Rolex moved the operation from the Beverly Hills location to Century City, in the Westfield Shopping Mall. It says opening "Holiday 2009". When I asked, they informed me that it was going to be a RSC and retail store.

Hope this helps some people....Torneau is gonna get hurt bad in the mall.

Was this in your local newspaper? To my knowledge, Rolex has never opened a corporate run retail store. The ones (Rolex only stores) at Wynn and Costa Mesa are both owned by independent jewelry companies.

Are you able to disclose your source on this?

Does anyone know if the Rolex store in Schipol Airport in Amsterdam is owned by Rolex or a 3rd party?

I'm fairly confident that that store is owned by a 3rd party. I know of no corporate owned Rolex retail stores.

The Rolex Boutique store in Costa Mesa Ca. (South Coast Plaza), is Rolex owned and Contractor operated.

They also opened one in China during the Olympics.. Don't know if it stayed open or not..

I think it odd that they would close down the Beverly Hills Center, and then open one down the street in Century City, unless the older store no longer met their corporate model.

If Rolex intends to continue with their own Corporate stores and include both sales and service, then it would make sense to open a few with a watch-repair facility in the back, or closely adjacent..

Doesn't sound right. From what I recall hearing from a friend that used to be an AD Rolex (at least USA) gives up the right to sell on their own as part of their contract with AD's. I do not know exactly how it is set up but something about a no competition clause and a conflict of interest.

This would be great news as I miss being able to drive down to the BH RCS for servicing and regulation. Whom did you ask to confirm this?

Jonathan.

Space in a mall like Westfield is very expensive. It does not seem to make much economic sense to put a large regional service center in this type of space.

I guess we will soon see, but I would bet against this from a real estate and business perspective.
