What are your top 5 favorite watches?

There are no rules. For me they are:
1) RRCCII for the hand-finishing, and the black enamel dial is stunning;
2) Roger Smith Series 5 for the aesthetics and the degree of handwork;
3) Simon Brette Chronomètre Artisans for the aesthetics and hand-finishing;
4) Petermann Bedat 2941 for the complication and hand-finishing. This is quite the complete package; and
5) Patek 5316/50P for the high complications and aesthetics.
What are yours?

(Funny that I have so many watches but none of these)

I was so close to putting the inverse on my list. Doing a top 5 is not easy lol.

I love this question.

That’s a great list. The Simon Brette would be my top choice though. The more photos and wrist shots I see of it on Instagram, the more I want one.

A friend told me that the dial engraver for the original Simon Brette will not be working on the future dials. Is that true? (I saw a clip of the possible future release and it looks to be the same work though) Not sure if it is an appropriate question to ask him directly.

Actually if the question is a 5 watch collection, it may even be harder to come up with. A top 5 watch list means you can have another 50 in your collection.

The open series (those other than the 12 souscription models) will have a tremblage dial. I'm not sure if Yasmina Anti will be decorating them.

Top 5:
1) Simon Brette Chronomètre Artisans
2) F. P. Journe 30 Years Anniversary Tourbillon Ref. T30 Limited Edition
3) Rexhep Rexhepi CCII (Black Dial)
4) Journe Tourbillon Souverain w/ Jade Dial
5) Parmigiani Toric C.03960 Rattrapante WG w/ Salmon Dial

Thanks for the info.

Any FPJ jade dial would be among my top 5 but it is becoming unobtainable now.

This is a fun exercise, but it is even more fun if you apply a dollar cap. My 5 under 50 (street):

1. Laurent Ferrier Galet Micro-rotor salmon dial
2. Patek 5960G
3. Moser Endeavour Perpetual palladium grey fumé dial
4. Vacheron 1955 Cornes de Vache in steel
5. Lange 1 101.027 blue dial

This would make a fantastic diverse collection for 200k give or take.

Ohhh I like the idea of a dollar cap.

Also that’s a great list!

agree with the RRCCII w the black enamel dial as a top watch. so much to like.

patek 3670 or 5950 would be at the top. prefer the looks of the 3670 but appreciated the more useful 60 minute counter of the 5950.

the remainder would be any from my current collection of practical wearable watches.

Frankly if I have any 1 of the 5 in my list above, I would call it a day

I have seen both the black and white dial RRCCII in person and I prefer the black version. The black enamel is so rich and the subdial has a gratté texture to it. The movement is otherworldly.

This is the watch I dream of from afar. I don’t play in that arena that would find me an allocation but I know that it is deserving of my admiration.

Kari Inverse - the perfect combination of unique design and high quality craftsmanship. Ordered this.

Romain Gauthier Logical 1. Looks incredibly mean with an amazing movement and perfect finishing. I came close to ordering this instead of the Kari.

GF Handmade1. Handmade except it doesn’t look like a 7 year old built it with a glue gun (Roger smith).

GF s2. The newer 40mm. Even the larger old ones are awesome. So comfy and amazing to look at.

Original Breguet Pocketwatch. These are not as expensive as you would think and Breguet is my all time favorite watchmaker. An epic entrepreneur. I have resolved to buy one next time I exit one of my cos.

While I'm not into pocket watches I must say that is the most original and refreshing answer till now.

The Rexhep, grande complication PP, Smith and others were expected :-)

And btw ... BREGUET is not only your all time favourite watchmaker. He is the best period. Holy trinity my a$$. Read the Breguet history and read PP, AP and VC their history.

I saw that RRCCII diamond release too. It's very classy and tastefully done in my view.

Quite sure you have thought of this one - do you prefer the AK-06 or the RS S5? I thought the AK-06 has better hand-finishing but the dial of the RS S5 with the combination of purple, gold and steel is mesmerising to me.

Definitely the AK-06

My pick for the RS-05 will be doobooloo’s on IG.

Can’t post pics for some weird reason
