Going to one watch only - ideas welcome

Currently have BLNR jubilee, APRO15500 black, Fifty fathoms 70th, omega Aqua Terra blue. Recently parted with the latest sub date - never wore it once I got the BLNR. Probably wear blnr 60%, FF 30%, AP 10%.

I have a dream of consolidation into a one watch collection. Criteria: high horology, bracelet, WR100m+, robust durable movement, complication: ideally GMT, must have date, annual calendar/moonphase would be nice, do not care for a chrono. Max 100k grey or boutique (if boutique has to be somewhat realistic eg I think I could get PC APRO which doesn’t fit half of the above unfortunately , but probably zero chance of anything PP nautilus related unless grey).

Is anything out there that fits the above? If not what do you consider to be the closest? TIA.

The 100M WR makes it hard if you want an annual calendar complication. With external correctors that may put you at 50 to 60M which in spite of what some people say, I do not consider a swimmable/ submersible watch. This is true with a screw down crown or not.

I think you should look at a VR Overseas PC. They are really cool and very versatile with the multi strap feature.

Thank you for the feedback, I do come back to VC a lot! Agree that 100m and an advanced complication makes it hard. I’d forgo a complication over not being able to swim/snorkel with it. The watch must be 24/7 available and skiing, oceans, sauna ready.

Patek 5726/1A fits the bill with 120m, AC and moon phase but lacks GMT. Not a fan though as I don't like the dial layout and prefer Nautilus thin. 5990/1A has got the dual / travel time, 120m, but also chrono and is even thicker. Both seem to be not far from 100k grey these days.

My 5711/1A swims a lot, likes to paddle, and doesn't mind cycling but I haven't taken it to the sauna. Afraid the temp might mess with the lubricants.

For an only watch that is worn daily; I would eliminate brands who may require more servicing, or brands that take a ridiculous amount of time to service. I want something durable, reliable, accurate, shock resistant, swimmable, dual time zone, annual calendar with a clear date display. E-harmony found a match:

Rolex for the one watch that can do it all. Not high horology, but the Skydweller is pretty darn interesting in terms of complications and design. If high horology is the driving criteria, guess you’re looking at an MB&F split escapement or something else along those rarefied lines.

It is closer to high horology than anything you have suggested. It might not pass your jewelry standard but when it comes to keeping accurate time and surviving indefinite daily use, it is hard to name a better option given OP’s total criteria.

AP sends out a sparkly trinket that can’t keep time and that is considered haute horology??? Only for people who wear uncomfortable shoes in the name of style.

Sky-Dweller... or better still H. Moser. Czapek is also an option. A thin Bvlgari with complication... Armin Strom tho Wproofness is 50m.

Sky-Dweller or VC dual time fits the bill. If you want some extra attention pick Rolex. If you prefer low key stealth go VC.

No Rolex. And the SD in most configs is just not a beautiful watch, far too bulky and a far cry from HH. The VC OS PC or the Moser fit the bill.

+1 on the VC Dual Time, I know this is the one watch I'll never sell.

The DT complication is one of the most useful ones out there, and the 150m water resistance make this watch as GADA as a holy trinity can ever be.

As a major plus, with the fantastic quick change strap system, you are kind of cheating, it is at least 3 watches in one. I often switch between bracelet and the factory supplied calf leather and rubber straps, and the look and feel is totally different.

I have another custom made alligator strap in denim blue on order from the boutique and can't wait to get it for yet another totally different look.

That said, I am on the waiting list for a mint green jubilee Sky Dweller, the only Rolex I'd ever want to own from the current collection.

A used late model PP 5712 in good condition can be had for 100k cash. Possible upside in the future if you decide to move it.

Another vote for SD (I prefer oysteflex variety)…clever technology with beautiful design.. keeps incredible accurate time.. not everyone’s cup of tea but that is the point… as long as it yours.

If the watch is a 24/7 wear then the Sky-Dweller on a bracelet. I get the high horology discussion but the watch must be robust and ready for the chore of being a daily. While the high horology brands make some great watches are you really going to go everywhere and do everything in one? Maybe, but as you wear the value off the watch you choose, take into account service costs and time. Many factors play into this for me but I could do it with a Sky-Dweller, SS, Jubilee bracelet and make it work. Just my thoughts. Let us know what you decide.

Nautilus 5711 is equally suited as a daily wear.


5164 is minus bracelet but adds second time zone, and fits the budget… but it’s not a keeper.

You wear your BLNR 60% of the time, so this makes the most sense to me. Plus you get the special feel of full PM.

This (nautilus) could work for a while. But I’m sure you’ll build back up another collection of watches in the near future.
These have come down a lot recently too.

But I’d rather have the pc royal oak. That could really be all you need. It’s a full collection in one. If you can swing that you’ll be a really happy camper.
