How much to haggle down New Black Submariner Date in Grey Market?
Was thinking about getting a new Submariner Black Date as my first Rolex. Tricky buying from ADs as I'm a newbie and have to build up the rapport.
Was considering going through the grey market in Singapore. - AD price goes for around 10,900 USD - Grey Market in Singapore goes for around 13,950 USD (new) Any advice on the range to haggle for? Any negotiation techniques recommended when dealing in the grey market? Aside from being a great piece was also thinking that this could hold value over a long period of time as it's generally in demand and is a classic :) |

Best advice is to get a pre owned one for 1k less.
They aren't new unless they are stickered and have a recent date on the card. Dealers say new all the time, but secretly they call them 'sliders'. Save your money and buy a year or two old one. You will never know the difference but will save |

I agree with Tuna!
That said, on staples like a stainless sub, there isn't a ton of margin right now like we have seen previously for the greys. Offer immediate cash payment for 13k. Expect to be turned down, but perhaps there is a counter for $500US off or so. Just a guess, I haven't bought a grey Rolex in a while, but there is always some wiggle room. |

You should be able to get a new one dated mid 2023 for $17.5k to $17.8SGD
Good luck and don’t give in to the asking prices of greys. |

They’re currently trading for about 13.5 USD. Maybe 13?

You should be able to haggle to a price point that you are comfortable with and if not move on to the next one. Singapore has some of the best opportunities when looking for a watch so I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for

I would prefer a 16610 or 116610.

Margins are pretty tight on resale watches unless it's a big dealer. I'd stick to 2.5-5% ask if they seem priced pretty much in line with market.

If the price is good, I typically settle for a 3% deduction for the credit card fees. With a few exceptions, the trusted sellers that sell here aren’t operating on huge margins. |

That is basically what the used price is on a newer model which looks slightly worn or unworn. The market is competitive and stable on these at the moment, so I doubt there is much wriggle room on the price from whatever it is week to week. Rolex watches are first new retailed through ADs in most of the world so non-authorized outlets rarely sell previously unsold Rolex watches.
