Daytona 116500 suddenly super fast
My Daytona had been keeping time perfectly (4 years old). Has been serviced once for stopping suddenly but fixed under warranty less than 2 years ago. Now all of a sudden it is super fast. Like 1-2 hours a day fast. I don’t think it has been magnetized but can you think of what the problem might be? I imagine it will have to be sent in again, but that seems like a lot of service needed for a relatively new watch. My gmt has almost never needed service and it’s 15 years old.

Daytona 116500 suddenly super fast
First, I would test the movement (after full winding) with my timegrapher. Then let it run to the end of its power reserve, fully wind, and measure again. Interesting to measure if your watch is running so fast in all positions.

get it demagnetized and then observe its accuracy. if that doesn’t return it to normalcy, send to RSC as it has another year on warranty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Well if magnetised which is quite doubtful in general they do speed up and run very very erratic or even stop and refuse to start. In most cases its the hairspring thats effected but seeing the Daytona was the first watch to have parachrom hairspring fitted way back in 2000 and according to Rolex its non-magnetic. So possible owner error in checking time try giving your watch a full manual wind set time with reliable source quartz kitchen clock will do. Check time after a few hours see if Daytona is keeping time ,if not then it best a trip to RSC to get it fixed.

I'm having a hard time envisioning gaining an hour or two per day being user error, lol.
I have a similar but different issue. My Daytona, which was spot on time-wise for over a year, began losing a bit of time and now is losing about half a minute per day. It's eight years old and I just shipped it off to Dallas RSC for service last week.

Place the watch next to a stable stopped compass. If the needle moves, the watch is magnetized. Magnetism could be an explanation of your issue.

What does the GMT , almost never needing a service in 15 years mean?
