Hello all -

I have a question for any of you jewelers who work on Rolex..........Can you leave a Rolex Daytona running full time in the Chronograph "stop watch" function? Can it cause problems? Not asking about the actual watch function itself, asking about the Chronograph "stop watch" function.....?

It would seem with a watch like this you should be able to leave on the Chronograph "stop watch" function along with the standard watch function running full time.

I don't know the answer to that, but why would you do that?

not a jeweler but from what I read it will do no harm, it just uses more of the power reserve. As long as you are wearing it, it will run fine.

I'm sure some one else will be along so to add more info..

yes you can and as mentioned as long as you wear it all functions will continue to work.
But, why do you want to do that?

Are you timing everthing in your whole day, it's not worth using the chrono fuction unless your totalizing every move you make, well it's your watch , enjoy it.

Some people do this (I don't) so that the (larger) seconds hand spins all the time, presumably because it's nicer to watch than the subdial's small hand...but in any case, in terms of damaging the watch, it won't. It does lower the reserve time (the amount of time the watch will continue to run if it's not being worn) somewhat, but not all that much.

In terms of the watch's accuracy, I don't believe that with this movement it is affected either, although I'll let the gurus speak to that; I seem to recall that w/the Valjoux movements common to most other automatic chronos, the accuracy is affected somewhat when the chrono is on, although this could be FMS (Foggy Memory Syndrome) again.

I'm hoping to buy a Daytona from my AD soon, and I've been thinking about the same thing. I'm used to the sweeping second hand on my Submariner, and felt that the Daytona would just look better with that hand in motion. Certainly I'll try it both ways. But it is nice to know that no damage will be done.
