Bi-metal and precious metal owners - wearing habits

Hi all.

I have recently purchased a bi-metal DJ. I absolutely love it to bits, but it is quite flashy.

I live in London, which is generally quite safe. There have been some well publicised watch gang thefts, although the police are finally doing something about them, and have had some success, estimating that more then half the gangs have been arrested following ongoing sting type exercises.

I would love to know what your habits are. For me, I am happy wearing the watch anywhere with longs sleeves. Not necessary a short shirt, could just be a coat or cardigan. I was happy to wear the watch with a t-shirt in a posh hotel bar, or other bar. I am also happy to wear in a more upmarket club or sports centre with a t-shirt.

I might be reticent wearing this with a t-shirt around general London in summer, although I haven't got there yet. I also don't intent to swim with it, although I also don't swim even with some of my Seikos :) I am in two minds about taking it on holiday. I guess it depends on the place.

Some questions for you guys:
1. Do you wear this watch as a daily wearer, or in a daily wearer rotation ?
2. Do/would you wear this watch on holiday and/or when travelling ?
3. Are you happy wearing with a t-shirt in public places ?
4. Are you happy wearing with a t-shirt on the beach ?
5. Are you happy wearing with a t-shirt in a pub ?
6. Are you happy wearing with a t-shirt in a hotel ?
7. Are you happy wearing out and about generally with a long sleeve/coat, etc. ?
8. Do you wear when swimming ?
9. Do you wear when doing active sports (e.g. skiing) ?
10. Are you as happy at night and at day ?

Any comments would be very interesting. Also if you note where you live.

I wear my watches when I want but they are typically worn event specific. I wear my divers for swimming, dress watches for dress ect. Just be mindful is the best advice I have. If you own a nice car you don't park it just anywhere. You get it.

I'm fortunate to live somewhere that I can wear it anywhere without worry. I did take a road trip to FL and stored it in the well under the trunk floor until we got to Orlando, but I probably need not have bothered. Even overnighting at Graceland in a city with a rep doesn't seem like it would have been a problem. Didn't go walk around Beale though.

Most of the places where it might be an issue I'm generally not going to.

I answered the poll but I never wear a t-shirt anywhere else than in bed or at the gym. So my answers were not factually true, but hopefully in the spirit of the poll.

I have had a gold watch that was my fancy dress watch, and I had one that was a daily. Currently my most used dress watch is steel. It’s more about the watch than the metal

I picked up a TT DJ 41 a couple years ago. They are beautiful watches, but pretty quickly I found that I was reluctant to wear it in certain situations, not because of fear of crime but due more to the it being more flashy than the SS versions. I would up selling it and picking up the same watch in stainless. What I will say is if you feel anxious or uncomfortable wearing it, swap out for a stainless DJ.

I wear whichever watch I choose for the day anywhere I go, and however I am dressed, which is generally in casual attire. I probably will not swim or wear the Wimbledon when using my home gym. I switch to my Apple Watch, for working out.

Casio G Shock for Walmart, walks in the neighborhood, grocery shopping, etc.
Sub Two Tone with bracelet for nice dinner, more formal work meetings, holiday party.
Sub TT with black RubberB strap for day to day office work, shopping at Nordstroms.
Tudor GMT with bracelet for travel or international meetings.
Sub LV with bracelet for when the Sub Two Tone still has the TT bracelet and too lazy to put the rubber strap on.

I treat my watches sort of like my shoes. The right shoe for the job and matching the rest of the attire.

Complicated, but I can see it working. I am also complicated as sometimes I select randomly.

Maybe it's yogic & we should look inward for happiness instead of at our wrists...

OP: White gold would solve all of your problems. No one knows. Just your little happy secret. Like the Bob Ross of dense metals.

the idea is are you as happy walking down a street during the day with the watch on, as during the dark hours

Strange strange poll options.

What can you ascertain from this poll?

I know, a bit unusual. I think I can see the map of activity that bi & precious metal owners are comfortable with their watch, so it is quite useful.

Firstly I take the highest score for any category (at the moment question one) which is then used for the benchmark. Other ones as a %age of the highest, show owners that are happy with those sections.

It appears, so far, that owners are generally comfortable with wearing their precious metal watch similarly to steel, which is contrary to my expectation. Although it is modified at the t-shirt end

This answer! Life is short, they are watches and meant to be worn. I am at work right now (I am a construction manager) wearing my Speedmaster 321. I have a TT Yachtmaster that I wear all summer long at the beach.

Also let me add the red gold. It is not so flashy as YG is. Most of the people does not recognise, what you wear even if it is a TT and not full RG. And of course, let's not forget platinum watches, which are mostly unrecognized as a PM one.

yes, white gold and platinum are vey much under the radar. I also trying on a bi-metal rose gold DJ and strangely it can look like plain steel depending on the light.
