Daytona bezel misaligned

After admiring my Daytona, my buddy bought a Daytona from someone he knew but found the bezel misaligned. He took it a local Rolex dealer and they told him the watch was authentic (only visiual inspection didn't open the back cover) but was at a lost.

Have you guys seen this before? How did this slip through Rolex's vigorous QA process?

He was able to get it replaced. But I was very shocked to see that, as were the folks at the Rolex dealer. I was with him when he visited the Rolex dealer.

It could be some testing for the rotatory bezel of the Submariner Daytona 2010... Best of both worlds limited edition.

Lol - I was looking at that for ~30 seconds for a tiny misalignment - then I suddenely realised what was up - too shocking by far.

The 60 is suppose to be exactly located right at the top of the cornet, well at least it was able to be replaced, kinda weird but it happens.

How on earth did a £20000 watch like that pass QC with such a glaring mistake? Not good, I'd be spitting feathers

If he bought it from "somebody he knew"... then how do you draw the conclusion that it "got by Rolex QA"........

The "someone" was, according to my buddy, a legit watch dealer in San Francisco that he knew personally. Anyway the dealer apologized for the mistake and replaced the watch which he later had the new watch certified by an authorized Rolex service shop.

I only ask that because the bezel comes off rather easwily with the proper tool.. then it can be pressed back on properly aligned...

Takes about a minute by any good watchmaker.......
