Conversion to Jubilee

I used to be an Oyster man but since owning the BLRO on Jubilee, my opinion has changed and I'm now a Jubilee man. I prefer the way it looks not just on my watch, but also prefer it on other references too where it is an option.

Anyone else converted?

Yep. Got my GMT on oyster, then found the correct jubilee and I love it.

Yes. I was pleased when the BLRO became available on Oyster because it was my preferred bracelet. About six months after getting the BLRO my Sky Dweller came through. I asked for the Jubilee because I already had two of them on Oyster. I was so impressed with the wearing comfort of the Jubilee that I had my TT Sky Dweller and my BLRO put on Jubilee.

I still think the Oyster is one of the more comfortable bracelets available but the Jubilee takes it to an even higher level. To me the BLRO looks great on either, although on Jubilee it's a more fitting homage to the 6542.

I was converted last week as well. I always thought the oyster was the pinnacle of bracelet design. Which don’t get me wrong I still love the looks of the oyster, but man the jubilee wears soooo much better. Also I’m discovering it is more versatile than expected. I always assumed it was more “dressy” but I’ve been wearing it with my normal wear and it works just dandy. Even wore it hiking the other day and it fit right in

I own both a Sub on an oyster and a Sprite on a jubilee and man, the jubilee is one super comfortable bracelet!. It wraps around the wrist so smoothly and feels like silk. Probably one of the most comfortable bracelets I have ever worn from any brand. The Jubilee is nice!. I would always pick a jubilee bracelet given the option.

I'll probably be the dissenting view here, but I prefer my GMT-Master II on Oyster. I acknowledge that a large part of that is because I already have a Datejust 41 on Jubilee. I still view the GMT-Master II as a sports watch and that it warrants a more sporty bracelet. In that same breath, I also acknowledge that the newer Jubilee bracelets are so rubust, that it really doesn't matter which you go with.

I also bought Jubilee for Pepsi, which I picked up on Oyster. Since then I only wear it on Jubilee.

Here is a repost from one of my earlier BLNR threads on the Rolex Jubilee:

I am going to try to give some logic on why the Rolex Jubilee works or at least my observations in the design. When you take enough photos of watches you really start to see why some watches always look good in about any lighting.

Most watch pics are from strait on giving a one dimensional viewpoint. That is not really how it works in real life with a watch on the wrist. Most times a watch is viewed from an angle or a side glance to the owner and almost always to anyone else sneaking a wrist glance. This is where Rolex is the master of design in creating a visual effect. Much like the fluted bezel of a DD that has its teeth cut on an angle to reflect light from different sources, the GMT bezel and jubilee is designed to do the same thing. Study how Rolex polishes a jubilee inner bracelet link and you will see the sides as well as the top is perfectly polished. This is then flanked by a brushed top outer link followed by a polished outside. This is a very optimal design to reflect light from any angle. Even more impressive is the brushed top outer links are there to contrast this multi angle polishing. This is a masterful design with the details. Without that you get a bling mess like many Breitling bracelets where the entire link is polished and without any hard angles or contrasting finishes. Then Rolex scallops the outer bezel teeth not only for greater grip but using the same contrasting theme by a satin inner bevel and polished top radiating out to a sharp edge and then polished over the sides. This is exactly what the jubilee bracelet is doing. It’s a subtle design to maximize light reflection and contrast from different angles. You get a very dramatic and flashy light show but without looking like you are trying by wearing a all polished bracelet. It is a masterpiece in design and why it has remained so appealing with most owners not knowing exactly why they like it. Also, the raised crystal with the sharp edge is there to contribute to the contrasting light reflections. Certainly Rolex could easily make their crystals flush with the bezel and a soft round edge, apply outer AR, etc…but then that would ruin the magic within their theme of the watch.

This entire watch from colors to metal is a design in contrast and reflection.

The Rolex Jubilee is the most comfortable bracelet I have ever worn from any manufacturer. Unfortunately for me it simply looks too much like jewelry and is hard to dress down. I live rural-adjacent and generally speaking I am either wearing Levi’s denim or camo shorts. The brushed oyster bracelet simply blends better with my surroundings.
