37mm yachtmaster vs 36mm datejust? Or both too small?

Hey everyone, I’ve got a 40mm yachtmaster in rhodium and it’s a great watch and wears great on my wrist.

I’ve been considering adding a smaller piece as my wrists are smaller than average. Was debating between the datejust 36 and the ym37. How do you guys think these wear on my wrist?

I think the datejust 26 wears bigger than the YM 37 as the dial is bigger. I think the datejust looks better on your wrist and you already have a YM

Both look great on you, the 37mm TT YM is looking particularly casually elegant.

Both look fantastic on you in the pictures. I already own the 36mm Mint dial on Jubilee and it does wear bigger than the Yacht master 37mm. I have been considering getting the Rose / Chocolate 37mm Yachtmaster as well. I was only trying it on a few weeks back in my AD.

I think they both look very nice on you, but I have something of a preference for the YM.

Both look fine but you can't go wrong with a DJ36.

Thanks guys, I think I am definitely leaning towards a dj36 black or white dial with a Jubillee on a domed bezel. I might do that first and then later down the road get a 37mm yachtmaster as I have a ym40 currently. I am hoping they release the titanium design they did last year in 40 or 37, as those could be great additions and more wearable on 6.75 inches and below vs the 42. My 40 on me for everyone’s reference

Similar situation

Close friend of mine had the same decision to make just last month, this being his first Rolex....went with the Datejust but will add the Yachtmaster 37 at some point....very happy with his decision

the ym37 wears like a 34-35mm watch because it has a big bezel and in effect, a shrunken dial. i had one and couldn't come around to the weird proportions and how it wore. it just feels way too small for a dive watch

dj36 would be much better imo

Thanks, that’s good to know. what size are your wrists? Did you switch to the 40?

I would not go for the smaller YM, and the 36 DJ looks great. Both watches in your pics look really good on you.

I’m going to keep the 40. I just wanted to add a smaller size watch to my collection

My wrists are around 6.6 inches or 16.7cm

Between those two I would pick YM 37mm. I don't like DJ 36mm at all. For me its just ladies watch. If I would go for the DJ in the future I would pick 41mm. In your position I would stay with YM 40mm and if you want something smaller I recommend you to take a look on BB58 or BB Pro from Tudor.

I would consider these to be the perfect fit.

Thankfully, the days of wearing wrist clocks are coming to an end (for some).

Both are a good size for your wrist. Between the two, I prefer the YM. I like the DJ with fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. The smooth bezel takes away its charm, to me anyway.
