SS GMT Availibities?

Thinking to ask for a SS GMT (Batman, Pepsi, Sprite). Is this watch rare? or the ADs make it rare in term of allocations?

share your GMT allocation stories!

Short answer… yes.

Threw my name on the list for a Pepsi about 4 years ago with multiple dealers and no calls. I have purchase histories with most of them.

I read the Pepsi is the hardest to get of the bunch but even also showing interest in a Batman, still nothing.

Got to see a Tudor BB GMT Opaline for the first time last week and will say it really surprised me. Been really tempted to pick this up and figured I will get the call for the Rolex around retirement time… in about 20 years.

Definitely one of the tougher watches to get. The BLRO being the most difficult. See what your AD has to say.

Ha. Did you say the Batman is attainable for you? Did they hint the waiting time for the Batman?

Do you come in and chat with you SA periodically?

I would say they are rare. Usually the easiest way for me to gauge how hard a watch is to get at an AD is by how much they go for on the gray market. According to Watch Charts which is somewhat accurate, the Batman on jubilee sells for $16241, the Sprite on jubilee sells for $18266 and the Pepsi on jubilee goes for $20081. To me that indicates that these are NOT easy watches to get at an AD. Those are huge premiums above their retail prices!.

Speaking of rarity, if you go on Chrono24, you’ll see there are 850 BLNR for sale, 700 Pepsis and 550 Sprites worldwide. That’s not that much at all considering the crazy demand for these models.

Right now the ss GMT market is red hot. That is only contributing to the excessive AD waiting times.

Pricing really hasn’t changed nor has demand slowed down.
Patrick just put another BLNR up for $19.5K cash and they are moving almost as fast as they get put up.

Been on the 'list' for 3 years for BLNR for me and an LV for my son (my retirement his college grad. Both over 3 years ago)...and nothing.

My SA texted me again this year (every May) with, "Has anything changed regarding your Rolex plans?" I wrote her back and said the wait has been long, and desire to obtain these pieces is not there anymore. Probably lost my chance for good, but F Rolex. I have finally learned my lesson and am looking elsewhere.

I am sorry. Do you have any purchase history with them? I can't imagine the LV is that hard to obtain... Did you end up going grey and enjoyed your watches?

My AD says he can't get me a Pepsi but will get me the next batman/batgirl that comes in. I have purchased a few things there over the last 3 years.

They do have a few of each GTM2 on display including the BLRO, and seeing it in person I really want to wait....but the batman is a sweet watch and I am going to buy it if I am able to this year.

No definitive timelines, but that ‘more of them come in’. Take it as a grain of salt.

The Pepsi is "discontinued" without actually being discontinued. The Batgirl is hard to procure... getting harder too.

They're not rare per se, just difficult to actually get an allocation from the AD (especially the "Pepsi").

My local AD told me that the waiting list for the Pepsi was 200 years. That was 3 years ago though, so maybe only 197 years at this point unless more people have joined the waitlist.

In all honesty if that is the reference you want you might want to go grey. I’m guessing you’ve no history with your AD? If you had then you’d already know the likelihood of getting one

SS GMT Availibities?

I got a BLNR on a Jubilee about 15 months after I asked for it. Honestly, I never expected to ever get the call. I was surprised when I did.

Wow... I know an AD kept the high-demand watches in their safe and didn't want to allocate them. Some of which are SS daytona, Batman, Pepsi,... They wait and allocate those watches with discretion!

Latest discussion I had (yesterday) was they are starting to see more people from their lists decline calls to purchase.

Not for Daytonas or sought-after GMTs but the bubble bursting has significantly impacted flipper demand overall. I suspect those with a bit of patience, even with GMTs, will be rewarded sooner than they might think…

Of course, for those looking to flip for a quick buck. There is increasing risk of being underwater.

This feels right - I got my GMT after a few months of wait after a well written AD review? I doubt I would have gotten the watch so soon in 2001.

no offense but how do you have all those watches listed in your signature yet keep asking these same questions every month?

I think it was very difficult for the lat 3-4 years. I am not yet in the market for one but was encouraged in talking to my AD and being surprised at the number of BLNRs they received last year and the fact that they seem to be seeing more BLROs coming in as well. I am considering expressing interest. Torn between that the Ti YM :)

I asked because I don't know the insights. Most of my watches are bought at grey markets, not with Rolex ADs
