Don’t miss Bologna, it’s a great spot. The architecture, some great restaurants, a nice manageable size, and beautiful countryside.

Is it safe to wear a Rolex in Rome?

Everyone wears Rolex in Italy, one evening last week I was admiring the waiter’s 116520.

Yes, Rome is safe, been there with my Rolex. Just take regular care in crowds or metro. Have fun!

If you’re asking the question leave it at home and relax.

Safe enough, but more appropriate to bring the Panerai.

I was on Mykonos last week and a lot of people was wearing Subs, so I can say its safe in Greece for my experience. In Rome I would not recommend to wear Rolex because Rome have the one of the biggest % of crime compared to all big cities in Europe

Just got back from Rome. So beautiful!
I would not wear your rolex tho!
And keep your wallet in your front pocket or bum bag. Crowded places like the Trevi fountain are a nightmare! The pick pockets, if caught, get arrested, then released about 2 hours later and it starts all over again! Very high crime rate!

Pick pockets go after obvious tourists. Just don't look like one (cargo shorts, oversize polo and white sneakers) and you'll be fine.
Wore my Nautilus to all my trips to Italy including Rome, Florence and Naples.

I personally would enjoy wearing a Hamilton, a Baltic or a Longines much more than a Rolex in Rome

+1 - Rome can be a bit sketchy. Italy is still one of the "watch" crime hubs of Europe... Just be aware of your surroundings, as usual.

I love Rome - greatest city in the world, all things considered - but would wear a G-Shock so I could devote all my attention to the sights, and not worry about what's on my wrist (and to know exactly the time, day, date, home time, and other features).

No way I'd wear any of my Rolex watches in Rome, I'd be worried and constantly checking out my wrist. Remenber you're on short sleeves there at this time of year. Gangs are operating in tourists' hotspots, that's what they do all day.
Rome, like several other great cities in Europe, are to be enjoyed without a luxury watch on the wrist, IMHO.

Enjoy your trip! I was planning to go myself with wife and kids but decided to leave it till next year. They're still very young and you need to wake up early and walk quite a bit if you want to make the most of it.

We usually travel to Italy every other year and fly in and out of Rome. Generally we stay near the Pantheon or in Trastevere for 3 days and nights. I’ve worn my BLRO on most trips, never even gave it a thought.

Enjoy the beautiful city, so many wonderful places to explore

We used to “skip” Rome thinking it was too busy and crowded in favour of the smaller Tuscany cities and towns. Lately we’ve come to appreciate Rome more and more.

Enjoy your trip

I spend 2 weeks every year visiting Rome wearing my DSSD, just keep your watch covered on your wrist, ensure your insurance covers it and enjoy one of the great cities in the world

I would never wear a Rolex on the streets of Rome nor in Paris. I just returned last night from Paris, and pickpockets (young and old) remain ever present in both cities. It's just not worth the risk.

Italy in general is a fantastic place, and Rome is one of the truly great cities of the world. That said, I never travel to any touristy/pick-pocket-renowned places (i.e. most capitals and large cities) with any of my "expensive" watches.

The world doesn't stop for me if I forgo wearing an expensive watch for a week or so, and I'd rather not have even a fleeting concern about what's on my wrist. If you have ask, then just wear something cheap and enjoy your holiday.

As long as you do not walk around with a sign on your forehead hey look at me I am wearing a Rolex. Or don't have a neon flashing sign with Rolex on, its safe to wear a Rolex anywhere just use your own common sense. And expect many thousands of Italian people wear Rolex watches in all cities including Rome.

Why risk a robbery or attempted robbery spoiling your holiday. Wear a Seiko and enjoy your trip.

If you are asking the question then for me is it worth losing it? As with lots of cities around the world you have to be careful of your surroundings and tourists have a habit of standing out.
Enjoy your travels and wear something that is low key
