Bluesy 2017 vs 2020
Hi all,
Quick question…Apologies, I posted this in another section, so wasn't sure if it needed to be in the General section. I have the 2017 version of the bluesy with gold text on the dial. I read some posts online that say that the text “fades” over time. Is this true or urban legend? I’m never been one to get buyers remorse, but was just curious to know what the community had to say. Also, is there a big enough difference to trade up to the 2020 model? Thanks for your help! |

Mine is 4-ish years old, looks good as new (the dial, not the bracelet). So, when you say over time, im thinking it must be a long time. For me, there is no way I would trade an 11 series for a 12. You have a great watch, keep what you have.

I don’t know why it would fade anymore than the white text. Never heard of this. I like the gold text on the bluesy.

I have never heard of this. We have heard of problems with the movements in the 2020 (12 series) subs. Enjoy what you have :)

Thanks, all….this is extremely helpful. I guess I was a little intrigued by the 41mm vs 40mm dial and the slightly larger bracelet. Are these differences even noticeable? Thanks again.

I’d stick with what you have the differences you mentioned in size would be negligible

I do notice the wearing difference between the bracelet and clasp size on the 12 series vs the 11. It’s not good or bad to me, just different. I guess if I’m honest I do prefer the thinner bracelet and clasp of the 11’s. I do like how both feel on my wrist. A slight edge in comfort may go to the 12 as it seems to sit flatter for some reason. |

I haven't heard anything about the text fading. I wouldn't worry about that.
The newer model has white text on the dial, wider bracelet and more tapered case. One isn't better than the other. All personal taste. |

I love some of the older bluesy dials that have faded to a purple hue. But that is after many many years of ownership.I don’t see text fading to be an issue. There are several differences between your 2017 and the 2020 models. You would have to decide if case design, movement change, or text color is important or not. Either way, both models are great watches. Wear yours in good health!!

It's only the solid gold models have ceramic tubes but only on the models in the past few years.

I have seen some of those nipple dials with the the purple dial. It looks so cool. I didn’t know it was caused by a paint pigment issue. But they were unique just the same.

Yes many were changed under the warranty but soon as it started to be hyped about becoming possible collectible prices started to go up.. Myself like the purple colour but not pay any extra for one,the blue dial TT sub is my favourite in the TT range.

I have both, the 11 Series “Bluesy”, and the 12 Series Bluesy.
I prefer the proportions of the 12 Series. I also prefer the look of the 12 Series, but honestly, from four feet away, on the wrist, there is not a noticeable difference … closeup, yes … in HD photos, yes, there’s a difference. |

Not the newer TT ceramic Sub as their colors are very stabile. The older 5 digit Subs did this on occasion. I owned one for 15 years that did this.

I’ve never heard anyone say it’s faded as fast as I know but in any case that would likely take longer than the watch is old. A lot longer…I actually prefer the 3135 equipped bluesey as I much prefer the gold writing - I feel as though it matches the bezel numerals better and really pops.
But both are beautiful watches no doubt that scream “Rolex!” from miles away. Whether that is a good or bad thing is personal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I didn't buy the 11 because I'm not a fan of the supercase and got the 12 instead. If I liked the 11, I wouldn't swap it for the 12 on the fear of dial discoloration. Enjoy your great piece, it's got a more reliable movement.

Bottom line: I don't know if there's enough bang for the buck to trade up. There wouldn't be for me, anyway.
I do like the wider bracelet width of the newer model, but I would miss the gold text...and no, I don't think there's any substance to the online 'rumor' of it fading. |
