Icon4 Nudes, Nudes, Nudes

... Now that I've got your attention...

I recently started doing a bit of life drawing again, and thought I'd share some of my favs so far. Just a couple of 15 & 30 minute pieces.
It's been 4 or 5 years since I've done any drawing at all, so things are a bit rough until I really get going, but I forgot how enjoyable it is. I like sketches because of their rough, unpolished and unfinished nature, and the fact the you can see every line that's been drawn.
The most fun is in varying the mediums used - pencil is nice, but I love the scratchy immediacy of an ink pen & especially like charcoal.

Excuse the bad photos, some of them are very faint pencil drawings, must learn to photograph these better!

My favourite from this lot:

Not a nude, but I like it anyway! :

Great stuff Otis! We recently bought a few silver pencil sketches from a local artist - small but nice. I'll try to get some pics for you!

I agree that sketches do have a certain quality, one that I like a lot. The silver pencil is interesting because the drawing will actually "tarnish" over time and it gets a nice patina. Something different than the average painting at least.

Nice Otis. I do a bit of drawing myself. Most of mine are pin-up type girls such as Betty Page and done with airbrush, but I love the way youve captured these...
Guess I need to get out the camera now.

Excellent work, Otis. I've always appreciated pen & ink and charcoal drawings. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys!

Al, that silver pencil sounds interesting. Was it on a black paper, or just normal stuff?

Hellcat: I'd love to see some of yours, I've never understood how airbrush guys can do such detailed stuff, it always amazes me.

Gabe: Yeah, i've got a few more floating around somewhere, they multiply every week! I'll see if i can dig some up....

Sorry for the crap photo, I will try again with some natural light tomorrow so it doesn't look so yellow.....

It's drawn on white paper and is actually a piece of sterling silver, small diameter maybe 1/8th of an inch, and held in an old style mechanical pencil. Hard to describe - have to run now but will try to find you something where I can show you what the pencil looks like - I think I have one around somewhere from when I used to do drafting by hand on an actual drafting board.

I'd enjoy looking at nude ladies if I got the chance.

Great sketches Otis. How are the ducks coming along?

Well.... they've turned from ducks into some sort of gull-thing... and they've also turned into silhouettes.

..but at least the colours are nice! I still have to add some details, but I'll post a pic when I get home.
When things slow down a bit I'll hopefully be able to try a proper drawing of a duck / ducks, maybe give the watercolours a go again

I was a silhouette until I realised I wasn't cut out for the job.
