New to Panerai

Hi everyone... first of all, i just want to say that I love the amount of information that I could find on this site... rolex or not.
I recently just bought an SS Daytona... my dream watch.
Now, I am starting to look at other watch and learn about them.
I am very curious about Panerai... however, to me, the styling (face, dial, and band) all look very similar from one model to another. (please don't yell at me... )

Here are my questions:

1. What makes Panerai so special?

2. I understand that all Panerai are limited editions... does that mean, they will definitely rise in value later? good collecting value?

3. What would be a comparable "ss daytona" of Panarai? In terms of popularity and status.

Thank you for all of your input.... this is a brand new territory for me. I appreciate any feedback.

1. Because the Historic behind 'em.
2. Yes, Panerai can hold their value good, and will rise in the future.
3. Compare with Daytona ss is PAM 233, 8 days power reserve.

And yes, I will yell to you...WELCOME TO THE BLUESIDE!!!

have a read at this post by Jake...it will really make you appreciate Panerai (AND Rolex)

http://rolexblog.blogspot.com/2009/0...-of-rolex.html

the simple face that you are referring to is iconic like the submariner's design...there is tons of history behind it like what Heru had said...

each year..there is a limited number of each model being made...and then there are SPECIAL Editions..but that's another thread...Panerai holds value...

agree with Heru again...PAM 233 is comparable to Daytona

have fun...

I, like you, started to explore the watch world outside of Rolex...

-true military roots
-tough watches
-watches that go equally well with jeans and a suit
-value/resale value
-panache
-special editions

The SS Daytona is to Rolex as PAM 127, 217, 232, and 190 are to Panerai. Not impossible to get - but you might have to dig a bit. You won't be able to obtain these new, however.

Answers:

1) Passion of the Paneristi. So much more than just a watch.P-Day is on today in Firenze.Wish I could be there.
Bold/elegant/stylish/retro and modern,timeless simplicity

2) Relatively low numbers of production.Great keepers of value,on some you can actually make a little fortune ...

3) Panerai cuts deeper than just a mere status symbol.

SS Daytona ?? .... Been there, done that.Bought a 104 as my first PAM and the Rollies disappeared.True story.

Welcome to the Panerai world. Its just a question of time before you will be posting pictures of your first.

Own one and you'll know because it's hard to explain.
