Most Popular Rolex is

According to Chrono 24 the Date Just is the most popular Rolex. Using the filters available at Chrono 24 inputting a search for the most popular Rolex, it shows the Date Just..Go figure?

I mean the DJ is the most sold model in Rolex's history. It's always been that way. Sub/gmt/daytona are nice but DJ has always been the BEST selling model...

Decent price, a clean readable dial, jubilee bracelet is the trademark of Rolex and double crown lock and 100M means ya can actually dive with it as well (Dr Earle has been diving with her ladies DJ for years!). For most non WIS folks, it can be a daily wear and the ONLY watch they've ever need.

I love my sub but on the waitlist for one...what I didnt know was Rolex has secretly been putting AR coating now (same as sub/daytona and exp2) last couple of years. My rep said their newer models have AR.

DateJust is the most timeless, most iconic, most classic, and most recognized model Rolex makes, of all time, ever, period. Of course it would be most popular. If there is only ONE Rolex to have, it's a datejust.

I’ve owned my 36mm white dial, Roman numerals, oyster bracelet Datejust since 1998. It gets the most wrist time out of my collection. I have a 7 1/2 inch wrist, and it’s my favorite.

That's only because that's all that are available for the masses. It's like saying a Honda Accord is the most popular car in America. That's what more people can afford and that are available. There is just no way a Honda is more "popular" than say a Porsche or a Ferrari but when not many can afford a Porsche, hence there are less of it and as such a Porsche is "less popular". If a datejust and say, a GMT or a Daytona both have the same availability and same price range, there is absolutely no way a datejust is more popular.

Mmmm. The DJ still might be. It's a classic Rolex, understated in some iterations, and functional. Which is it's own kind of appeal. I mean it's still a watch that starts around 7-8K which for most people is an insane amount of money to spend on a watch. The latest iterations of GMT and Daytona are pretty flashy. Not everyone wants that. Plus the Daytona is hard to read with a dedicated function that is pretty much useless yet takes up a lot of the real estate on the watch.

The Datejust has been the core product of Rolex since it was introduced. Most model sold for decades, the popular sports models follow.

Most Popular Rolex is

The most popular Rolex amongst hardcore enthusiasts like us is arguably the Submariner. The most popular Rolex amongst the general population is probably the Datejust.

I'd like a vintage or neovintage 36mm DJ with an engine-turned bezel. Maybe one day.

Why does that surprise you? I thought that was common knowledge. It’s beautiful, versatile, and has a useful complication. It can be dressed up or down, worn by a man or woman. No surprise to me.

You wont be adding me to the stats anytime soon. The DJ, along with the OP are 2 of the 3 Rolex’s I have no intention of owning.

The biggest selling Rolex watch world wide has been the DJ range for the last 50 odd years anyone with common sense if a true Rolex collector would know this.

Most of the articles I’ve read speculating about production numbers seem to guess over 250k datejusts are produced annually or somewhere around 25% to 30% of production so makes sense.

It is the most commonly available for sale on the aftermarket and an enduring and recognizable model for at least two generations. Does it necessarily follow that it is currently the “most popular”? I am not so sure…

It doesn't necessarily follow, no. But it also doesn't follow that it isn't.

I thought it was common knowledge that the DJ is the most popular Rolex. And it's easy to see why.
