How do owners like them yacht Master Titanium?

There have been various threads on the pricing, but those that own the watch, whether you obtained it from an AD or went grey, how do you like it?

I was impressed with the watch when I got to check it out at my local AD. It really is beautifully engineered and finished. Problem is, I don't think I'd wear it much if I were to add it to my collection. I like the heavier feel of precious metal even more than stainless steel lately, so going titanium is a different direction. That's just me, though. I think it would be a killer watch to add to a Rolex collection.

I wanted one when it was first announced. But since it’s a hard piece to get, didn’t even put my name done at my AD since I already have a list of watches on the waitlist with them.

Then I had completely forgotten about this watch for a couple of years until I saw it on display at my AD a month ago. Tried it on and it was very underwhelming. It’s extremely light, as expected, but it’s large and thick and doesn’t look very refined.

VERY pleased with mine. It's easy to wear daily and makes for a great option in a collection.

The "yacht" nomenclature alone makes it polarizing regardless of weight, materials, or appearance. Had it been modeled as a Sub, far fewer people would be against it.

Enthusiasts pay more for lightened versions of sports cars with exotic materials so why not watches?

Titanium is that one metal that has a dull luster to it. I do not think you can make it shine like SS or other precious metals. It just looks too dull and gray.

It's only 11.68mm and thinner than any professional oyster case Rolex model out there. It appears even thinner on the wrist having only about 8mm of case side and bezel edge. To me it wears smaller than a 41mm Sub.

Yes, but it’s lug to lug is 2mm more than the Sub. It doesn’t wear smaller.

You can make titanium shiny. Late 90s Litespeed bicycles were obnoxiously polished and shiny. They were a titanium alloy, though. Unsure what Tudor and Rolex use.

I wore it pretty much all summer. It’s good. In fact I bought a Daytona 126500 black the same week and haven’t even bothered sizing that.

Visually it looks smaller than 42mm because of the matte insert and darker color overall. Physically it’s the larger watch but up close and from a distance it looks smaller than its size indicates. Again, that’s to me, which is why I said “to me” above.

I’ve shown friends in person and everyone thought the RLX YM was smaller than the 41mm Sub or the exact same size. So far no one has said larger. But, that’s just in my experience. Yours will differ.

Titanium can be polished and shined. Examples of this would be Hublot and Grand Seiko

I think I read those frames were electropolished - kind of the opposite of electroplating.

They used 6/4 Ti on their higher end frames which is maybe ‘grade 5’. I don’t think there’s much use for elemental titanium.

The combination of strength, low density and poor heat conduction makes titanium feel a bit odd c/w other materials; it can feel a bit like high quality plastic :)

Correct, I have worked with Titanium for 30 years and can polish it to a mirror finish. When you put Titanium next to Stainless next to White Gold the Titanium is colored more like white gold than Stainless. It has a yellowish tint to it just like the white gold especially in low lighting.

Also Titanium does not react to the skin (hypoallergenic) at all and is why its used in many medical implants. 316L has a reaction to my skin where titanium does not. Titanium is also a reactive metal. I can turn it many colors of the rainbow with a torch or by running DC current through it.

I love Titanium but havent seem the new Titanium Rolex in person yet. I would buy one in a heartbeat at MSRP but wont be paying anywhere near current insane after market prices on it.

Just got to try on a titanium YM at a local AD and loved it. Would love to have one in the mix. Good contrast to both smaller watches and heavier watches. Feels so different but has that Rolex DNA that has captivated us all.

I don’t own one, but would love to have one. I really liked it much more than I expected at the AD.

However I feel they are a bit pricey at MSRP for what they are compared to similar watches from Rolex that are significantly cheaper. Definitely would not pay 2nd hand prices for one.

I like them a lot, but a lot more around $12k

I was able to try one on for a bit at my AD. I think that the dial and bezel both look amazing, and I wish it came in SS. The titanium (for me) was too lightweight and just made the whole thing feel a little off.

I'm sure I could get used to it (lol) but for now will be saving my AD requests for other pieces.
