UK availability on YM40 and OP36?

What's the state of availability in the UK on a YM40 Rolesium and OP36 green dial?

Small purchase history (a few Tudors and a jewellery) at one of 2 AD's in my city.

Been on the 'list' for the OP since it got released (yes, yes, yes, I know) but nothing. The YM for about 2 years.

Have my 40th coming up and would be cool to add either one to my collection.

I reached out to my AD about 2 months ago and the SA I normally speak to had left. So got booked in with another SA and they offered my two tone YM and GMT Master 2 CHNR. Nearly got the CHNR but stopped last minute as it wasn't what I actually want.

Yes, I get it. It's much cooler and prestigious, higher value, etc. But wasn't for me.

Looking back, either availability is slightly easier or they felt sorry for me and offered the bigger hitters.

Going grey is a possibility. But prefer AD route.

The other AD is Goldsmiths. Got no purchase history and kept getting offered bundles or brands I'm not interested in.

Hi OP,

I can't say for sure about your particular area - but I do know the YM40 is relatively easy obtain, and I would say with your purchase history too. The OP36 green is still considered a 'desirable' piece and so a little trickier.

If I were in your shoes I would be turning up the heat on your AD with the hope of something arriving for your birthday. At the same time I'd have a plan B - going with a reputable grey dealer. Both of these are easy to come by in that space - and the YM40 isn't much above RRP these days.

Should the AD come through in the future, you can pick that up and move on your original grey purchase, or pass if you want to.

All in my opinion of course, and good luck!

I'm in Liverpool. There's only 2 main AD's- David M Robinson and Goldsmiths. DMR has been my main AD. Goldsmiths is just massive. Further afield there's Manchester and Chester.

When the OP colours were released I did put my name down for red, yellow and green. All in 36. Didn't get a whiff of the red or yellow and then discontinued. Green the only one left.

Not really been into the mainstream professional models either. YM40 has been the one that's pulled me in.

I probably got caught in the hype of the GMT Master 2 CHNR as it was very luxurious and smooth.

I did get offered a DJ36 about a year ago which I turned down.

Hoping this settling of the market continues and more availability comes through. Ideally at 2024 prices! Lol.

I ended up going grey for my green OP 36, and have enjoyed every second of that watch. Life is short and it doesn't sound like you're getting that call any time soon.
