Citizen 2100

Just got this beauty this week, it has a very unusual movement.

It is Eco drive quartz but the chronograph function is mechanically actuated, there is a very satisfying "click" when one operates the pushers.

Also the Chronograph hand glides round the dial somewhat like an automatic watch, also th chronograph function has a flyback feature, not in the traditional sense of being able to re-set the chrono whilst in operation but in the fact that as soon as the re-set is pushed the hands fly straight back to zero instead of like a tradional quartz where they would do the full clockwise journey to the begining!

Another amazing thing about this watch is that of the 294 components that go to making up the movement a full 147 are hand assembled by Citizens specialist watch department high in the Japanese Alps.
Here is a link to give more info on this!

The build quality of this watch, like many other caliber series Citizens is first rate, especially for the money!
This watch retails for CAD$725 but I got it from my AD for a little under $500 which is outstanding considering the technology and hand assembly component.
Here are a couple of shots!

Love it! I have three eco drives, one of which is the minute repeater. These watches are so well made and I have wanted the 2100 for a while, I just find it astonishing what Citizen can pack into a watch for the price and the quality is really punching well above it's weight I think.

One of my rules for watch collecting is that there is something unique or extra interesting about the watch. With this one it is not only the hybrid movement but also the way they have got a quartz watch to have a sweeping hand instead of the tic, tic tic, it fascinates me!

My pictures do not really do it justice but the dial is just wonderfully put together, it just oozes quality I think! Throw in a 5 year no questions asked warrenty and immaculate customer service and it is a really good buy.
They have just brought out the Signature line which I have seen in person and that up's the game even more, getting very close to their much more expensive Campanola range I feel. I love Swiss watches but over the years the love of Japanese watches has got to the point where the love is equal and in some respects surpassed!

Next on the shopping list is a Grand Seiko, trying to choose between the new hi beat or the Chonograph spring drive!
