Which of these sub no dates?

Hi,
Been out for a bit of Rolex therapy with my son who is considering buying a Sub no date.
We came across a shop with a brand new Z serial non COSC Sub no date (2 lines of writing on the dial and the V serial COSC version with 4 lines of writing on the dial.
Both were exactly the same price with no discount possible. I see what people say about the cleaner look of the older model.
However, at another dealer I can get 10% discount on the COSC V serial version but they cannot get hold of the non COSC version.
So my question is:
Which Sub no date, non COSC version, Z serial at full price or COSC version, V serial with 10% discount?
In the UK that means a difference of £338.

Well both exactle the same watches except for a few fonts and the now very antiquated COSC test.So its swings and rounabouts myself would buy the cheapest option if I was going to keep the watch.

I wouldn't want to get into why you're shopping for a nice Sub.. They're great watches..

But, you shouldn't be shopping with the price being the determining factor unless the watches were identical..

If price is important to you (him), get the cheaper one.... If they cease production (which I doubt) then the COSC version will be one of the shortest Sub runs ever.

Get the COSC ONE .... like stated before, the COSC 14060M is the rarest because they just startedd making them....and with this new push towards supercasing, they just might pull the plug .....

Get the one you like. 338 pounds is more than you will lose if you buy the one you don't really want.

The Z should be cheaper as it is older.

Should all come down to whether you like less text on your dial - or not. I personally would like the COSC text!!!!

Thanks for all of your input. At the moment my son likes the COSC version, not because it is cheaper but he likes the RolexRolexRolex and the extra writing on the dial.
Interesting thought about this model being rarer in the long run.
I am not sure about the bracelet that flops open in comparison to the Sub Date bracelet that all stays locked together until you push the O.

I suppose you can look at it from two ways..One if they stop producing the sub next year then the certified version will be a very limited run and would be more rare. The other view is that if they continue running the certified version then people will be wanting the older non certified version, as you would not be able to get the cleaner un-cluttered face. Get which ever watch you prefer without thinking of future values, and if it does go up then it is a bonus.

For a brand new watch from an AD, for which I'm paying MSRP (or close to), I'd want the latest and most updated (which would be the COSC). Also, even if they keep making the non-date version but update it with the ceramic bezel, yours will still be a relatively rare version.

I would have the COSC. It will be more rare, plus it has not been sitting in a case for 3 years like the Z.

As stated they're the same watch, but a lesser made dial at less money seems pretty easy to me.

I have a non COSC but have had 2 COSC's , I love both but I think if I had a choice with each side by side I would choose the COSC, I do like the extra text and think the RolexRolex rehaut is cool.. :cheers

My son is very impulsive and so he needs to be slowed down so that a sensible decision is made.
I know that he would go for a GMT II classic if it were still made but he does not like the idea of pre owned. I am OK about pre owned providing I can inspect the goods thoroughly.

I am a big fan of the classic without the RRR on the rehaut. I also like the clean design with less text. I have a Z-Series 14060m.

im a fan of the less dial print. plus preowned is a great way to catch a great deal. they guy i got my ND from needed money and never wore it. it was mint and i only gave 2500 for a P serial number in 2005.

Perhaps that is because it has inside it the older cal. 3000 movement NOT a modified one? (that would have made it an M with the cal. 3130).

Or he just needed the cashish

Six months ago I bought a new ND COSC Z serial. I also got 10% off. I like the fact that nobody has owned my watch previously(not that its a big deal).

its the M version so who knows..... if im correct the P is only representing the model year. because the box says it is a P serial number and a model number of 14060M. so if im not mistaken that means it has a modified movement.
