Are Rolex Owners Foolish and Immoral?

Well, here's a guy who thinks that the very act of buying a Rolex, or I guess, any watch that costs more than $200, makes one both foolish and immoral.

Oh, the ignominy!

The Earth is dying and we Rolex owners are to blame!

Why I Want but Will Never Own the Best Watch Rolex Makes

Novelist Nicholas Mancusi goes to sleep and dreams of having an Explorer 1 on his wrist
...[I]f I had an Explorer, then that would mean that I was the kind of man who could spend $6,550 on a frivolous bauble, an act so foolish that it’s essentially immoral. The kind of man who didn’t waste time considering the amount of real good that could be done with that money, the wiser purchases, the mutual fund, the people who could be made happy, the gifts he could give, the lives he could change, or of the degradations on the planet that this exact desire for conspicuous consumption has wrought. The kind of man who could admit to himself that he was at base not that great of a guy, little more than a captive to his desires, and that if he wanted the shiny thing, then he could have it.

Another elitist douche bag trying to explain his purpose in life and justify why it’s wrong that others are more successful than him while he sits on his thumb.

When he finally makes enough paper to afford the Explorer 1 (which he clearly is in love with), he’ll suck the ADs golf ball riht through a garden hose, just to get a chance to buy it.

Man why even give the stage to a fool like this? Let dogs be dogs

P.s.
That man could go work in a shelter and do some good, instead of wasting precious time writing this garbage... well, if he had a decent watch, maybe he could tell time :)

There are more than 7.5 billion people in the world. We can't expect intelligence and sanity from all of them.

In a vacuum, maybe. But, I (like to) think it depends on what else one does with one’s life. Not just one $6,500 material item.

There has been a lot of that lately. It’s very “in-style” to tell other people what to do. It’s the “you must respect my opinion because it’s valid” crap. The crazier, the bigger the megaphone they like to use.

There has been a lot of added frustration lately in the watch community with the current Rolex environment. People are snarky, taking all kinds of shots at Rolex and their watches, etc... I understand it’s basic human nature and these days no one has a sensor on any of their thoughts so they use the forum to voice every thought like free therapy.

This is the elitist douche bag who’s too moral to own a Rolex. Draw your own conclusions.

Let me guess, he wears suspenders with his jeans and fingerless gloves.

I could never spend $6,550 on a Rolex either. I mean, subs START at $7500.

^why buy a designer denim shirt with white stitching when you can grab a basic denim shirt at Walmart, then donate money to saving straws. His logic could be applied to anything.

When he’s not drinking lattes while typing on his $2000 MacBook Pro at Starbucks all day, he “randomly” pops into book stores while jogging by, that just happen to carry one discarded copy of his 13 year old “novel” and offers to sign the cover. Nice!

BTW, this is a true story. Proof exists on his Twitter.

Meh... people are entitled to their opinions, just like how we are entitled to spend our money on whatever we please.

I'm sure 99% of does other things for the "greater good". We work hard for our money and the way our society is built our income taxes alone are used to fund welfare checks to a) those who need it and b) those who game the system.

What a jerkoff. Does he own a car? Think of that money wasted.

Does his little pea brain ever stop to think that people who can afford to buy and wear Rolexes probably donate more money to charities and animal shelters than he and his ilk will ever do.

These self righteous holier than thou are just too much!

Also...

Speaking of being moral. He should've released his book to world for free on the Internet. Or digital copies. So very moral killing all those trees for a paper weight and profiting from the sales. Is he donating the funds from the sales to be moral?

Good point! So every time you buy a Rolex you are indirectly donating money to good cause.
