So you'd need about 30% discount?

As much as this is technical specs, the 58 is a smaller sized retro styled diver and the SMP is very much a modern sport watch. So they are very different. The SMP is also a good lot bigger.

I have the 42mm blue black bay and liked the retro look and it stands up to everyday wear well.

To me this is a go into a store and see which sings to you choice. If you want a retail omega, you want a hefty discount.
I've just bought a Speedmaster Pro at the airport for £3,178. Awesome value.

I believe the OP is talking about the new Seamaster Pro. Not the speedmaster.

I have a BB58 and I love it because of the design, but the new Seamaster Professional is in another league.

Tudor - wear on the boat or to move some boxes.
Omega - wear to a nice dinner.

Both can equally be beaters. Google Seamasters that are 10+ years old.
They look great.

Seamaster SMP 300. Better looking, more comfortable bracelet. Not even in the same league tbh
Also, especially new movements from Omega for new SM are top of the line

Of the two I would prefer the Seamaster, but I think the BB58 would fill the "beater" role a little better since it is smaller and lighter, and a more casual looking watch.

New wave dial SMP is growing in me. I especially like the no date ceramic and titanium piece.

Frankly the current production Omega SMP is a better watch: The movement in that piece is better than anything Tudor has as far as reliability and overall quality hands down.

I disagree on the movement. I am fairly sure the omega movement is more accurate, may go longer without winding, and is far more antimagnetic. So. Omega wins on movement.

The omega coaxial frankly is one of the highest rated movements imo. The movements in the Tudors are either stock produced ETAs or their own movement which is unproven. And average at best. .

It's difficult to choose. SMP is a classic watch and the movement is better in new SMP. 58 is still rare and beautiful. I will pick SMP as daily watch because it is easy to buy.

This seems like a good size, but I think its a little thick. Although, if Omega could make a GMT in this size I'd give it a serious look. Its a mystery to me why Omega only makes GMTs in 43.5 and above.
