Seiko SKX Line to be Discontinued

This is the word from Mark at Long Island Watch.
Well, I bring you some sad news. . . I can confirm to you, as far as I know, with the information I have been given by VERY reliable sources, the Seiko SKX lineup of watches is discontinued.

I am bummed about this. My first diver was an SKX173 in 2004. It is still one of my all-time favorite watches. I am hoping Seiko comes out with a replacement line.

That means prices will rise!

Which model do you think will see the most gains in 2.7 years?
Should I spend my son's college fund on SKXs?
Do you think the inevitable price rise will affect turtles and samurais too?
Is it safe to wear my SKX while reading a book?

sorry, this is a Rolex forum after all......someone's going to ask

So many out there so no shortage even if they are discontinued.
Many companies making parts for the SKX including cases so you can build one to your specs.

The stunning watch for its price, even for upper league.
Have one and it always makes me smile when looking at. Hope Seiko will introduce something decent in return...

I love mine, I’ve the 007 & 009......great simple, hard as nails watches. Sometimes the best designs are the simplest. Will these be collectible at some point? Yes absolutely if kept in original condition....there’s 1000s & 1000s of these, but how many will be in original & nice condition in 30 years time......just look at earlier incarnations, there were 1000s of those and most are fetching above their price bracket.

It is not too late. Look on Amazon and eBay. Some of the larger sellers on the internet also still have them.

The SKX’s are still available almost everywhere ( Jomashop, eBay, Amazon, etc ). I don’t see the supply dwindling for quite some time.

However - the “J” version ( made in Japan ) are getting harder to find already. At least in the black “007” versions.

Prices are seeming to still be around the same for the rest. Maybe $15-20 higher.

Jomashop has with a coupon code. You can get a SKX007K1 for $214.64. Not a bad price.

Thanks SunTzu,
I just placed an order with Jomas for a SKX009J1 to go along with my 007. This is my first time using Jomas - hoping it goes ok.

Wore my 007 a lot and it barely shows. Super tough watch. Grest value and looks great too.

I don't think SKX should cost any more than its retail price. With $250 range around, we can get turtles which are a lot better.

Yes is discontinued but you still can buy one in grey market, a bit pricey than normal but it really worth, is an iconic watch.

Yeah prices and availability seem to be holding. I'd be more concerned about the cost of Scotch Whisky.
