Help me decide...

Hey guys. Before I get this taken down, I want to make it clear that my watch is already for sale on this forums classifieds, so this is not a for sale ad. Anyway, I have a 116613lb that I just bought a few months ago. I absolutely love it. But I am the type of person who gets bored quickly and likes the idea of “wanting” something. That being said I am juggling 2 potential options.

I went and checked out two-2 tone skydwellers (champagne and white) and I fell In love. I really love the fluted bezel and the polished case. It’s hard to say this but once I saw them it made my bluesy look kind of “dull” with the brushed metal. So my first option is sell/trade my bluesy for one of the skydwellers.(color undecided)

My second option is keep my watch and add a second watch. An omega speedmaster pro sapphire. I really like this watch as well. I think it would be a great second watch to the 2 tone.

I can most likely get a speedy for 4k or i had an offer last month of 11k trade in on my watch plus 4500 towards a skydweller. As long as that offer would still stand the options are very close in price.

I also think it’s important to note that I am an electrician so I don’t wear a watch mon-fri. I only get to enjoy my watch on weekends. Also I’m finding it very hard to sell my watch being that I am new around here. If I get a lower trade in appraisal i don’t think I would be interested in losing that much money on a few month old watch.

Sorry for a long post but hopefully you guys will be able to give me some good advice. Thanks!

Take your watch + papers to a reputable grey dealer and trade in your bluesy for a SkyD would be my advise.

The MSRP difference between the two watches is around 3-4k.

Have you considered something more sporty if only for weekend wear?
YM on rubber strap would be a great swap

This would be ideal. But yesterday’s trade in offer was only 10k. Plus 5k for the sky dweller. I would lose 2k+ with this offer. That would essentially make it like I paid 17k for a pre owned skydweller. That’s not worth it. I would need at least 11k trade like I was offered in the past or wait until it sells.

Technically another option is a datejust 41. They have the polished case and fluted bezel as well. I mean realistically I’ll never use the second time zone on the skydweller. But it’s just so nice and it fits my large wrist well. And I think a datejust might be to dressy for me.

I do like how some rubber straps look but I really enjoy metal.

Date just 41 not a bad idea very similar looking watches at first glance. Be patient and you’ll receive the watch you’re going to enjoy!! Good luck!

Why not trade your watch toward the Speed Master you want and get cash back and sit on it for a minute. Wear the Speedy at night and on the weekends. I would get the Speedy on the bracelet but would add a few NATO and leather straps. If you buy the Speedy right you will not lose much on a later flip or sell and there are a lot of potential buyers who can swing the price. Add some funds to your left over money as time permits and get out and look at the DJ's or other watches that may interest you. Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide.

If you trade in at a grey dealer, you should be able to get a brand new SkyD, likely with blank warranty card and stickers. So I don’t really buy the pre-owned argument as you’ll be trading your ‘almost new’ bluesy for a brand new SkyD.

It depends why you want the skydweller, it has 3 complications and the bezel has a specific function.

If it’s just about having a watch with a fluted bezel you don’t need to fork out the money for a SkyD and get a DJ instead. The SkyD is much bigger though and feels very different from the DJ.

Honestly it really would only be for the fluted bezel and polished case. I just liked the sky dweller because the dial looks nicer. And I have 7.75 wrists so it fit nice. But I guess if I think about it, it may be a waste.

This is not a bad idea. This actually ran through my mind. I just don’t know what a reasonable offer would be. All these resellers want to have the upper hand. I know that’s their business but I don’t want to be taken to the cleaners either. Would have to be a good deal for both of us

I'd go for the SkyD as well. I'm not dogging Omega but I got one along the way and I was deflated soon after and took a bath to dump it even though I bought it right.

I’d wait until you’re sure you won’t get “bored” again. If you’re sure then make a deal.

If you’re not a watch dealer, it’s going to cost you money to swap just like buying a car. Chalk to it to the cost of poker and enjoy your new watch.

A lot of you guys are right. I went to a jeweler today who has quite a few rolexes. He told me he would only give me 10k for my watch on trade because they are going down in value. But than he said a preowned skydweller is easy to source at 16k. So I don’t see why my watch would be dropping but a TT skydweller wouldn’t. If I sell my watch I may wait a little to see if they come down. 16k seems to close to the retail of the sky dweller.
