First of all, I have been hanging around on this site from some time now, and have thoroughly enjoyed many posts already....so thanks to the great people on this site!

I have wanted a Rolex since I became aware of the finer watches availalbe on the market...about 17 years ago; however, for some reason or another, I had not been able to acquire one. I recently inherited a Day-Date YG which was my grandfather's. A good friend, jewler, and AD looked at it and told me the watch must be around 20-25 years old. And that is my induction into the fine world of Rolex, that I wanted to share with you.

Having always wanted a Rolex, I have been saving up here and there and building myself a Rolex fund. Visited friends AD, and having acquired a dress watch, took a hard look at the sport models. I was set on an Exp II, white dial......until, I hovered to the Omega display, and saw a Planet Ocean "007 Limited Edition". I have always thought of Omega as a fine watch....just had a preference towards Rolex. I must say, that having tried them on over and over again, I'm strongly considering succumbing to the Omega pleasant surprise, afterall, I already got myself one Rolex (though doesn't seem like enough). That PO feels like a dream on my wrist!

Any comments are appreciated, otherwise, I thank you for letting me share my recent acquisition with you.

I purchased an Omega SMP, after much inner debate, and I couldn't be happier. That stated, I keep coming back to the Rolex Forum!!

Thanks for your replies, and I agreee with all....I will try them on once again, but will probably end up going with the Omega. Feels great, weight is right, bracelet is comfortable...plus, a 30% discount is hard to overlook. I'm sure it will make me happiest now, as I'm sure I will not take my finger of a next Rolex!

As everyone else has stated, get what you like. The PO and EXP II are very different watches...diver vs sport watch, non-GMT vs GMT, polished vs brushed....you get the idea. Also, the size and weight are very different. The EXP II is a lighter, more comfortable watch IMO.

it's not always about the price and the name. different people like different stuff glad to hear you have a watch that makes you smile. just remember that 30% off comes with a price of poor resale value.

that's what I find amazing...the 30% for the omegas...that's almost common knowledge..and that preception will be hard for Omega to fix if they want to upscale their product...
