ETA wears better, looks better to me, and is easily serviced/regulated by most watchmakers. Choice seems clear to me.

I have nothing against ETA but was never a big fan of them in the Tudor relaunch. When they introduced the in-house movements I had a few and really felt they were excellent and a big step up from the ETA movements. Winding was butter. Better than the 3235. From a feel perspective.

I had my AD hunt down one of the last ETA BB Blue references they could get back in 2017 because of how easy the movement will be to maintain. Plus the beautiful rose dial, the non-riveted (almost Oyster) bracelet, it’s thinner and less expensive than the current generation.

Don’t believe the in-house hype.

ETA.

With respect to the servicing however, if I have the choice of a new movement, or having mine stripped, cleaned and some parts replaced and then put back together again I will choose a new movement all day every day. I have no attachment to a watch movement whatsoever.

"Refurbished". That, right there, would be a deal breaker.

Wow, I didn’t know that! Actually, quite surprising to me. Enough to put me off buying a Tudor, unfortunately.

I have owned both and have six in my collection now. All in-house movements and that is what I prefer. Accuracy is superb and I like everything about them including the bracelet. Nothing wrong with liking a discontinued movement or style and the dial of the ETA version is nice. I could care less about them changing a movement out at service as long as it comes back right and accurate.
