Class rings
Show it if you got one!
The class ring at the Academy was the one thing that I looked forward to receiving; everyone gets one but you don't receive it until the end of junior year during ring dance. The things that remain constant on each ring is the Naval Academy crest and the graduating year's class crest; the stone and metal options were up to you. Funny thing is I've only worn it about 4-5 times since graduating in 2006, as it is a bit large and showy. Doesn't matter because it's one of my most prized possessions, and it reminds me of all the hard work (ass pain) that it took to graduate from there.

Wow!! No wonder they're called "door knockers."
And thanks for your service!

Would love to see it! The difference in size of these things is like the difference between championship rings throughout the years...

After working in a Jewelry store as a high schooler, I was turned off by the value of school rings when traded in, but the OPs ring from the Navel Academy is a truly outstanding symbol of accomplishment.

I think these type of rings are great, it’s just unfortunate that the ring makers/ designers decided to make them as large and garish as possible so they are basically unwearable.
I’m guessing some genius must have decided that they could make a lot more money by covering them with diamonds and gems. My choice would be to wear them all the time but now it’s impossible. The Stanley Cup rings (NHL) are horrendous. |

I have about 400 hours in Rotary wing, mostly in.... H-3 Sea Kings. GE-8 and -10 engines.... Flight position switch on the transmission (no APU). Etc. I think Igor Sikorsky was one of my RAG instructors..... PS. I Do have some time in the SH-60F, that was a hell of a bird! One of these days you are going to have to explain to me the new Navy Helicopter organization, when I was in we had HS (H-3s). HSL (H-2 Seasprites) and HC (CH-46 Sea Knights). I was in VFA but knew the helo guys well, and ended up flying two years in the reserves with them at NASNI. Anyway today, there is... HS... C? HCS? Which has the dipping Sonar and which is stationed on the small boys? I am so confused. PPS. I was in CAG 10 most of my career, CVN-70, but if you ever were aboard USS Ronald Reagan a helicopter buddy of mine was CO, from 09-12 I believe. |

I have a college ring and another from medical school.
Can’t say they get too much wear though.

No Class Ring here.
I have our Family Ring. All the men get a Lion Ring when they graduate from college. My Dad had diamonds in the eyes, one uncle had red rubies and the other has green emeralds in the eyes. So, as my father I have diamonds in the eyes and my brother's do too.

Though not a class ring I wear this daily. One of the hardest things I’ve ever done. More brutal than anything I did in the Army. Honolulu Police Academy. 6 months of grueling tests ( go/no go types ), PT, defensive tactics. We started with 63 and graduated 41.
I did graduate college but this ring is special. You can only get it while an active member and if it’s lost or stolen the company will not replace it. Oh and my Brother In Law graduated from the USAFA. Class of 79. A-10 pilot after. Bonus points if you know what this means. His class motto. "LCWB." When I was home for Christmas I asked him why he doesn't wear his Academy ring. I mean what an accomplishment just getting accepted into a service academy. His answer, "I don't know its around here somewhere, I haven't seen it in years." WTF. He should wear it with pride. Congratulations to you sir on graduating from Annapolis. Major respect. |

Beautiful class ring! I never did get a college class ring, but I am a fan of gemstone rings. One of my favorite rings is very similar to your Naval Academy ring. I’m a retired Air Force guy and I thank you for your service.
