Whats your local watch scene like?

I've been living in Seattle for a majority of my life and it always seems like the watch scene here is very quiet or incognito, although this doesn't mean its flowing Daytona's and Subs at our local AD's, I'm curious what the watch scene is like elsewhere.

I live in a blue collar rust belt town and the watch scene is mostly scattered Rolex. I’ve never so much as come across an AP or Patek although I know for a fact they are out there.

North County San Diego - see a lot of Rolex; subs, DJ's, etc. Don't often come across someone wearing one of the higher horology brands all that often unless it's at a car event or some other scene that brings out enthusiasts.

There's a small medieval city here (a town by today's standards), lots of old money, a few ADs. You can definitely spot some watches when you're walking about shopping.

So far I almost always see a few Rolex, Cartier and Chopard. Have spotted numerous Patek, AP as well.

Shop wise the most expensive watch you can buy in my Town is a Michael Kors.
But there is a good scene with a lot of local collectors within a few miles of my house.

It's getting better! In the last year I've been to two watch centric events and it was nice to talk watches with other enthusiasts.

A lot of Rolex and a bit of everything else. I remember seeing an RM roaming the streets not too long ago.

I live in Bangkok, so there are like 7 ADs within 30 minutes, 4 within a 15 minute walk. Every other watch brand known to man is in the same area. Still no sports models....

Ah yes the subtlety of the native buffalo tongue. It is part New York, part Canada and part alcohol.

The watch scene here is pretty low key. We live in a “tech area” and I’m always surprised that with the amount of wealth here, more don’t wear decent watches

everything under the sun here in NYC but in my building (and in the tech industry in general), tons of apple watches and fitbits. There may be 2 or 3 people with a Rolex on my floor but I'll happily hold that designation

Rust belt city here as well. If I’m lucky I’ll be able to have a random conversation once or twice a year with someone wearing a Seiko diver. Other than that, my dentist and ENT like to talk watches but I’d rather not have occasion to talk with either of those guys.

Whats your local watch scene like?

I live in South Florida. This is the land of wretched watch excess. I see watches in excess of $10,000 US on an hourly basis and frequently see watches in excess of $100,000. The guy at the local hardware store wears a white gold day date with diamond bezel. My record in the wild was an extremely limited Patek that retails for more than $1 million. This was at the grocery store. I just saw a yellow gold VC Overseas perpetual and AP Royal Oak tourbillon in rose gold. I spoke to both of them to compliment their watch and had a nice conversation.

Rolexes don’t even register attention.

Watch heaven.
