Picked Up A Birth-Year 5513 Submariner
Hi friends. I just picked up this 1989 Rolex Submariner 5513. I've been looking for a birth-year submariner for a little while now, and only recently picked up a 1991 Submariner 14060 which I also love. I stumbled upon this a couple of days ago and jumped on it. Now I need to figure out if I keep or sell the 14060. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Very nice! I have a non-birth year (but close enough) 1986 5513. The later gloss dial 5513's are very nice watches and, at least in my mind, easier to "take risks" with (e.g. actually get it wet) than with an older 5513 (e.g. Maxi Mk 1 or 3).
Congrats! |

Good for you! I have been trying to find my birth year as well, but there doesn't seem to be any thing out there that is BD. Before Dirt.

Congratulations on finding your birth year Sub! I didn’t get on that until WAY too late, closest I could find was a 1958 5508, with relumed hands and touched up dial. It sux being old!!! I was told I need to find an hour glass.

i'd jump on a birth year sub for me - 1983. I say if they're different enough (no-date vs date) keep them both. Also if it's in your budget to keep. If not, keep the one you feel more attached to and is in the better condition. I don't think that birth year is the MOST important thing; to me it's condition followed by accessories followed by year.

Nice pick up, looks like it’s been barely polished too. If I was to pick one up that’s the era of Subs I prefer. Late 80’s early 90’s gloss dials.

Very nice! As the owner of a 1987 5513, I gotta agree with you about that glossy dial! I love mine!

Now, the problem is that MY birth year is '56, so we're talking about a Sub from the 3rd year of production.... Yeah, right, . . . I just don't think I'm ready to mortgage the house for that. (Well not yet, but, .... we'll see!).

A couple of 1986 babies on here like me! Would love a no date 1986 5513! I have a 2005 16610 which is the year I graduated HS so that’s kinda cool.

Nice watch. I made E6 in July of 89 and you could have bought one of these for less than 2K used.
