Blue dial Aqua Terra and DJ too similar for a small collection?

As the subject line states, would you keep the AT considering it is too much like a DJ both in blue dial for a small collection?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Aqua Terra in terms of quality and accuracy. Running less than a second fast a day. Probably the best bang for the buck out there but it may just be too similar to my DJ 41.

That being said would keep both if you were in my shoes?

Nope. They have the same function but the fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet make them different enough.

Thanks for the input. A friend has advised be that "They are different animals.".

More difficult to dress down with fluted/jubilee DJ correct?

Both killer looking watches, but I’d like to see more color in a small collection. Possible trade for a silver dial.

I think there are enough differences to keep both: tapestry dial on the AT, DJ has a Jubilee where as the AT has a bracelet similar to an Oyster, no Cyclops on the AT, hour markers are a different shape, lumed areas on hands are different.

But I get it, they are very similar in a two watch collection. I’m assuming you have a two watch collection but could be wrong, if so what else do you have? The solution I think is to flip the DJ and add a Rolex from the Professional line - if you like those. You’ll get most, if not all of your $$ back on the DJ. The AT you’re lucky to get half of MSRP. I should add, that’s the solution if you don’t want to keep them both, which you could do easily.

I’d probably keep the AT and get a different color DJ. The blue AT is the epitome of that particular watch. While the blue DJ is fantastic, I don’t think the other color variants are as far a step down as the other colors of the AT would be.

The AT is nice but that tiny date window looks silly after becoming accustomed to it on my DateJust.

I keep both. DJ looks dressier and more polish. AT looks casual, understated and sporty.

Also have the new two tone Cartier Santos Large, have a choice between bracelet and brown/black gator straps. I get to wear my wife's SS Santos medium as well.

Recently let go of my 24 year old GMT 16700 purchased new when I was 19.. perhaps the new Pepsi in jubilee as my next one :)

Yes, they are kinda similar in a sense that they are both sports dressy watches

They're obviously similar, but they are also two completely different watches.

I wouldn't be guided by some arbitrary standard.

I'd go with my gut.

I would sell or trade the Omega, it just looks too similar to your DJ

Although they have two blue dials, two completely different watches. I think any collection can have both.

With that DJ I’d never wear the omega.

Seeing them like this.. the AT looks better

For me they would be to overlapping. As others suggested, maybe get a different dial DJ like Wimbledon or a two tone variant.

If those are your only 2 watches, I’d sell the AT. My 2 cents. The AT is very nice btw, but definitely not in the same league as the DJ.

I presume this kind of non-ceramic dressy sports watch is your type so I'd stay put, if not then I'd diversify.

Of this pair, I'd keep the Rolex. I don't think I'd have both in my collection.

Harder choice for me would be if the Rolex had a smooth bezel and an oyster bracelet. I think the AT would win that one.

Has anyone asked the OP if he’s trying to make a move into something else?

If not, then there may be no reason to change...

not going to lie, they do cross over a fair bit as dress gadas. They're also awesome as they are gadas.

The AT is a strap monster as well.

I think you like the look of that dress sports watch. If it makes you happy stick with it.

Personally i go out of my way to ensure no overlaps in my collection but at the same time there seem to be folks that only collect one type of watch. If you like the watches don't worry.

I had a Datejust 41 and then added the aqua terra because I wanted a similar looking quartz watch (yes I do like some quartz watches).
I will go one further and say that I am also thinking of adding. A flutted constellation. I am however thinking of getting the dial changed on the Datejust to a Wimbledon dial.

Call me crazy, but those are two entirely different watches to me. Both awesome. Fluted and Jubilee is not for me everyday, but sometimes I'd want to dress it up a little more than the AT. I'd have a hard time getting rid of one or the other...unless I was hungry.

I'd get rid of the Omega without a second thought.

Too very nice watches, but it doesn't matter how you dress the watches up or down the dials are very similar so the watches look the same.

The DJ dial can be changed, so why not a lighter dial and keep both watches?

If you like blue, keep both. I like black dials. So that is what I have.
