New 31mm Watch Purchase Suggestions
Hello,
I am looking to purchase a 31mm watch as a gift for my Girl Friend. I will list some of the key items I know she likes. My goal is to find a piece that she will like, but also retain the most value down the road over the next few years out of the options below. If you could suggest models that would be better for this or even suggest models to stay away from (hold value poorly) that would be great. -31mm -No Jubilee bracelet -No fluted bezel -No diamonds on bezel (face ok, but not necessary) -White or Mother of Pearl face (preferred) -No Gold on watch, unless it is white -No used or pre-owned Budget 6-7k but would push to 10k if necessary Thanks |

Value retention on a woman's watch is of little to no consequence and a totally unrealistic expectation.
Buying used is going to be your best option to minimise the damage. Alternately, simply get her what she would like to wear and be done with it. Has she expressed any interest in anything particular to date? |

With all of those stipulations you have a very limited selection. This is about all you have with the option of a stick dial in place of the Roman numerals.

Women's watches do not retain value. One reason is that women, and their men, tend to purchase watches new.
Are you sure she wants 31 as many women these days are going with 36 or 40mm. |

That is interesting on the difference in value retention of the men’s vs woman’s; i was unaware. As far as what she likes, I think those key points above would be what would interest her. |

Nope, not sure. I think the 31 seems like a nice size. One thing that I don’t like about the bigger watches, is it almost looks like the girls is wearing her mans watch. Lol

I tried to convince my wife to like a 36MM (lol) because I assumed she would like the new trend for bigger watches and that went nowhere. 31MM, TT jubilee with MOP and diamonds. The end. That was all she wanted and she tried them all on. I have learned in 17 years of marriage it's better to get them what they want then what you think they should or might want. So I'd ask her or have her try some watches on. YMMV

I would consider a 35 mm Yachtmaster. Platinum bezel, rest stainless. My wife has it in TT and loves it

Try looking at the DJ 36. The new models are really geared to woman with an array of dials and colors. Plus there is some retained value unlike the 31s.

Get the 36mm. As above stated all the new dials released are all geared towards a womans watch.
There are many on here that think the 36mm is a good size for a man these days but to me its looks so dainty and small its really a womans watch size. Its evident now due to all the new dial releases as well Rolex is leaning towards that. |

My wife wears a 36DJ. Did you ever consider a 34mm. Its seems more unisex to me. I like your thinking of the smooth bezel on oyster bracelet. Classic looking.. Happy Choosing!

Bought this for the girlfriend earlier this year, fits your criteria and may also save you some cash. 31mm is more of a classic size for a woman, rather than the fashionable larger size, and with the blue/purple numerals on the dial, give it a more modern twist. Like others have mentioned I think the 35mm yachtmaster would be perfect!
