How many family generations is your Rolex?

I got this idea after posting a thread in here.

Wouldn't it be interesting to find out how many people out there who have Rolex that's been with the family for generations? And also post pictures as well if possible. The watch must be in working conditions to count.

I've got 1 from the 50s and recently gave it to my teenage daughter. My (late) grandpa bought it, passed on to my (late) dad, then to me and finally me (still alive and kicking) to my daughter. That's 4 generations!!! It still keep good times.

BTW, I can't post pictures in here. Please help.

I am the first generation Rolex owner in my family. My dad's watch that I remember when I was growing up was a Bulova automatic self-winding watch in stainless steel with a black dial. Unfortunately, it got stolen a few years back in a home robbery. I don't know that much about it. Dad has Alzheimer's and can't remember. My grandfathers both wore Elgin and Lord Elgin watches, both wrist and pocket variants. I have all of theirs in my vault.

My Date 1500 is from 50s, my Grandpa gave it to my Oldman. And my Oldman gave it to me.
My DJ 16233 is from my Oldman. that's why I never flip this 2 pieces.

My Rolexes are first generation owned by me but I do have a Waltham hunter's case pocket watch which was bought by my great grandfather in 1903 or 1904. Eventually my Rolexes will go to my son does that count!!!

Men don't wear wristwatches during the 18th century. Wristwatches were for ladies. Previleged men carried pocket watches. Great to know you own a timepiece so antique-old. If the timepiece is a Rolex .... you are a winner. 1903 ... Rolex wasn't even born yet.
IMO Rolex make great watches, so good that it out-lived its owners.

I am the first generation. My dad has a Mido he bought in 1961. He should have inherited my grandfather's Patek Philippe, but we couldn't find it.

My Dad bought his first Rolex, an Oyster Perpetual no date in February 1966, in Miami, Fla.
I remember this very well, because we were together visitin USA in a memorable trip.
He had always wished to own a Rolex, and that was the opportunity for him.
Unfortunately, this watch was stolen.
In 1982, I presented my father a new Rolex, an Oyster Perpetual Date Just, SS with gold bezel, champagne dial with roman indexes, and full SS Jubilee bracelet.
When my Dad passed away in 1999, I inherited this watch, which I show in the attached photo.

My wife’s grandfather originally purchased this new in 1965, when he died it went to his son who never had children sadly he died at a young age (56) and the watch went to my mother in law. She just recently past so in cleaning out the jewelry box it was down to this and a cloudy diamond ring. I choose the watch and my sister in law took the ring. I really disliked the watch at first and almost sold it as no one even like the grandfather so it had no meaning. However I decided to over haul it and put a cheap bracelet on as not to disturb the riveted & stretched 1969 Rolex USA replacement bracelet. This dang watch made me fall in love the Rolex Brand. Since this one my wife bought me the IIc for my 30th B-day. I officially retired this one to one of my safes until my son turns 18 or 21 have not decided yet. He is nine and already become a junior RIS. What have I done?

1st Gen. I wish I had my dad's watch but my bro gave it away to his playmate ex-girlfriend, about 10 years ago. I got a hold of her some years ago, but she claims she gave it back. The only thing I got out of it were numerous trips to the Playboy mansion with my brother. The watch is gone, but memories of the PB mansion will always remain with me. Thanks dad!

1st Gen here. My dad has a Sub, so I hope it will be at least 20 yrs till it become mine. He is in his 70's. I don't like to think about him leaving this earth. That makes me sad to think about it. I hope I never get it and Jesus comes before then! Then anyone can have mine! I hope all here will not be left behind.

My father in law had some nice watches (Patek Phillippe, Vacheron Konstantin) that were stolen along with some very expensive jewelry in a home burglary around 1984, so he didn't have any good watches to pass along. He was a jogger, so he just started wearing Timex digital jogging watches, and has been wearing cheap sports watches since then.

Then, about 10 years ago a friend gave him a brand new TT Submariner (black face), as a gift for having referred a ton of business to him over the years. Perhaps because of the Timex inertia, bad memories over the stolen awesome watches, or whatever other reason, he never wore the Sub, and put it in his safe. We bugged him to wear it and enjoy it, but he never did. Last year, he gave it NIB, still with tags, to my husband for my husband's 39th birthday. What a surprise! So, my husband proudly wears the watch his father gave him. It's too bad his father never wore it and enjoyed it, but it was a gift we'll never forget.

Nice stories. My dad never owned a Rolex. I did inherit his gold tank Hamilton, and his SS Benrus wristalarm. Funny how you think about that person evertyime you wear their watch....
