Treating someone's watch in a way that can mark it is very rude Imo. Watches are gauged on condition and should be treated as such. Clattering my watch down really irritates me. Bloody well handle it nicely!

It’s a watch, not your John Thomas. Not worth getting wound up about.

Now I know what it is.

Sounded like just a name to me, that’s why I was curious to the meaning.

Thanks

Sorry. I had a schoolboy chuckle (no pun intended) asking you to Google that :)

lol

Me neither

But I kinda live under a rock

Sometimes my students will talk about the hottest rapper or movie star and I won’t know who it is

So I just assumed it was a person that had some sort of story

But I looked it up and boi was I wrong

It could be worse. When I picked up my 116500, I commented how much lighter it was than the 116718 I wore into the AD. The SA then picks up my gmt in the tray and drops it from ~4 inches above the tray. Seemingly as a way to test or feel how heavy it was.

I said to her in the moment "I don't treat my watches that way and I'd like if you didn't either." She apologized and we went on our way. No harm no fowl, but I wasn't pleased

That is unbelievable! I don't baby my watches but I don't know how I would react if that happened to me. I'd probably ask to see a platinum DD and comment on the weight and do the same thing.

I’ve often wondered about going into an AD and being shown a Daytona that is “reserved for another client” then ‘accidentally’ dropping it on the floor. Followed by “Oh crap! Sorry - guess I’d better buy that from you now”

I went to my local AD to get my watch sized and was asked me if I purchased it there. I said no that I got it from out of state. He said, "can I look at it" I said sure, handed it to him he looked at it for a few seconds and handed it back to me. Told me please have a seat and we'll take care of it. I guess since I didn't buy the watch there he wanted to make sure is was a real Rolex. Link removed and on my way. BTW, both the watches I purchased were from grey and out of state and both were sized by the local AD with no problems.

No charge both times. I even got offered a bottle of water the first time I was there. First time there I was asked if I purchased the watch from them. I told them I didn't because of the taxes. No problem. :)

Must be nice!

My AD charged me like $40 I think to size my watch because I bought it at another AD

However, about a year before that, I had bought a bluesy with said AD

The first time I went I thought I was going to be charged and I had no problem with that since I didn't purchase the watch from them. After he removed the link I asked him how much....he said "no charge it's a Rolex" I was kind of surprised they didn't charge me. I said Thank you and on the way out the SA said "do you want a bottle of sparkling water or plain water" I'll just take the a bottle a water"

They do this every time with me. Not just tourneau, most dealers. I have mixed feelings on and admittedly, possible double standards. If I get a good vibe form the SA I don't really care. Sometimes I just don't care for someones demeanor in which case it drives me nuts. Especially when they are wearing multiple rings and seemingly careless. I've given out some death stares on occasion to SAs that handle my watch without asking. the message is typically received.

My local AD will give my watch a quick spa bath in the ultrasound while I shop. Maybe Tourneau adds a massage?

just had this experience in Cayman. They picked up my Tudor GMT while I was trying on a Datejust and cleaned it with a microfiber cloth. I didn't have any problem with it but I was surprised they just grabbed it without asking me first.

This happens to me at pretty much every watch shop I've been too. In each case the sales associate asks to look at it first before touching it; I have never said no.

It doesn't bother me at all because they are letting me handle their watch too.

Almost every time I try a watch in the U.K. SA takes up my one from the tray and give it a quick clean with a cloth.

What exactly do you mean picks it up and puts it down multiple times? You're trying on theirs and they just stand there picking yours up and down? If they just move or maneuver it, I don't see a problem.
