ROC 39mm Panda or Blue Dial?

Which is the rarer bird? 25860ST vs 26300ST. I see them both at roughly the same price. Both sing to me and are stunning but I don't know the differences. The white with black subdials strikes a wonderful contrast. The blue is a beautiful color. I know that blue means boutique and is in high demand. Then again, I don't know much about the panda. Which is the more exclusive of the two?

I owned the blue dial 25860 (.01 model) and it was dark enough that I'd consider it looking more dark gray than blue. The one I see listed in the classifieds is a .04 model and does look more blue. The panda is beautiful too. Which one you pick may have to do more with the status of your collection (what color dials you already have or plan to have). No wrong choice here.

Thanks for that. I have a silver 15450 for dressy occasions. I also own a beautiful blue 41 Datejust, that's another blue dress/sports. I'd say it's a toss up. One thing I don't own is a chronograph. I used to own a Daytona panda but with the way my wife commandeers it, I may as well say it's hers! ;)

The panda is less common than blue? I'd love something I don't come across often on another's wrist. I also wouldn't mind having something that decades from now will be highly collectible.

Only the 1st series ROC had petite tapisserie dials same as the 15202, and only on the greyish blue/electric blue versions. Dials after that were all in grande tapisserie as can be seen from the pictures provided by OP. The clasp design is also different whereby the early models were in a simple curved rectangle shaped and the later models with the AP initials clasp. Correct me if im wrong.

In the last five or so years of owning a 25860 or 25960, I’ve never seen anyone else with a ROC. Now I live in a Midwest college town but I do make it a point to check out other people’s watches. I think you have to be way more likely to see one in the NYC area.

Since you’ve got a blue dial, go for the panda!

AP's website notes their new 38mm ROC's dial tapisserie has been changed slightly for better contrast and visibility. As far as I know, they're still turned on a pantograph. Looking at the ROC panda I picked up last night I can't really see any difference. I'll need to put my flip down lenses on later and have a very close look.

I did exactly as you suggested and brought the panda home. Btw, with your two rocs, you've got all the bases covered. I've heard the gold version feels twice as heavy as a gold Rolex. My new roc is 38mm which seems just right on my 6.5 inch wrist. It would have been very interesting to try the 39mm on as well.
