Hands Day Date 118239
Bought A 118239 some months ago and love it! It is a April 2006 piece Which makes it even more special (exact 50th birthday of the Day Dates earliest incarnation which was introduced in April 1956). And it was NOS, stickers still on (!!), except for the fact that another dial was inserted, but the original black stick dial was also included.
The minute hand is - probably because of the earlier dial change - a little damaged. Anybody knows if these hands will still be available over the coming years? I want to avoid having not period correct hands in my 118239 when I send it in for service somewhere over the coming years. Thanks! |

I take from what you say, that the dial was not replaced by Rolex?
My DD is currently at Rolex having the dial changed to make it, imo, more ledgeable to read. They will also replaced the hands and the day/date discs. And as per their policy will also service it, which again imo, is unnecessary as the watch is only 2 years old and is NOS. By the way it’s a nice looking piece.

I have gone with Silver as wanted a bit of contrast.
The day/date discs are black on white. Previously I have had a white dial, which imo, was the best. But there was no contrast between the dial and the day/date discs. Black was also a very good option. For me a DD should be fitted with a champagne dial. But Rolex over the years have changed the shade from light to dark and the last configuration apart from the dial and hands being similar in colour, also had a champagne tint behind the letters and numbers of the discs.
