FS:Wittnauer Automatic Diver, circa 1970s
Wittnauer Automatic Diver, circa 1970s Price: $450 shipped fully insured to U.S. and Canada addresses Details Dial / Crystal: Beautiful blue two-tone dial in original condition. Silver applied indices. All lume dots are fully intact and perfectly match the handset. Blue day/ white date wheel. Original plastic crystal. Case / Crown: Extremely sharp case. Factory brushed finish is very well defined. Interior case back stamped Wittnauer Watch Co. British Crown Colony, Hong Kong. 1000 - W100. Diameter measures 37.5 x 46.5mm. Unsigned crown, perhaps a replacement. Movement: Seiko automatic with day-date function. Signed Wittnauer Watch Co. Seiko movements are unusual in that the crown cannot be used to wind the mechanism. The adjustment of the quick-set day-date is made by pulling the crown out in a “step one, step two” sequence. Bezel: Rotating blue bakelite bezel Bracelet: Integrated stainless steel bracelet can easily accommodate a 7”+ wrist. Very little stretch. Unsigned clasp, perhaps a replacement. Accessories: None Condition: This 70s era sports watch is in excellent condition. Although billed as a “dive watch” this Wittnauer is not waterproof. Over the years many of these watches have been destroyed or severely damaged by water ingress. The movement in this example is spotless, even the seals look fresh. Though the watch keeps good time its service history is unknown. Notes: This vintage sports watch embodies a very cool 70s design aesthetic, it’s a timepiece that’s extremely eye-catching with major wrist presence. Although big in size this Wittnauer diver has a mercifully thin profile and can do double time as a dress watch. Terms and conditions of sale: Three-day return policy if the timepiece purchased is not the one pictured, or as described. A returned timepiece will be scrutinized in detail to make sure no parts have been altered or damaged in any way. Buyer is responsible for the cost of postage and insurance of any returned item. All international sales are final -- No Exceptions. Outgoing shipments are packaged carefully and sent fully insured via USPS, UPS or FedEx (with Parcel Pro). If your package is lost or stolen, a refund will be issued after the insurance claim has been approved. A face-to-face transaction is possible if you live in or are visiting Southern California (Los Angeles). Accepted forms of payment are wire transfer, check/money order, or cash if making a transaction in person. No items will be sent prior to the receipt and clearance of funds. Bank wire instructions will be given to the buyer upon confirmation of a purchase. |
