Going to look at 1977 1680 White MK1 today

Said to be in excellent condition, box no papers. At a reputable jeweler but not watch specialist.

Other than getting high quality pictures to post here, and the usual evaluation of authenticity and condition...what should I be looking for?

it depends what you put in "usual evaluation of authenticity and condition"...if you put enough, that should works ! Reference engraved, Serial number, if the era matches with the dial, the bracelet, the caliber, luminova or tritium (dial, hands, pearl), etc...

Were MkI dials still used in 1977?

Unfortunately, a "reputable jeweler" will not be able to tell you anything about the authenticity of the watch, and can very easily, albeit unintentionally, sell you a inauthentic watch. I would suggest doing some serious reading to educate yourself before going down this road.

Well if you've already got those two down pat... I guess just make sure there's no peanut butter in the movement?

Nice dial but many obvious service replacements. Hands, bezel insert, band, maybe date wheel. Passed on it. Thanks to all, I'm on the hunt so will be back soon with more questions.

Truth. I'm onto another 1 and having it authenticated by LA Watchworks right now. After spending hours researching every last detail from the pictures I have.
