Blue Snowflake 7021 potential purchase

Here's what I think I know:

Box/Papers are assembled so add no value to watch. Low quality pics make it hard to really judge so I'm having it 3rd party authenticated. It's not NOS. But everything on the watch looks correct to me for a 1971 7021.

At the risk of being sniped (sorry I think I was sniped by a dealer last week)..would you please offer your expertise on this potential purchase? Any obvious flaws and opinions on value?

Yes, I have to say the bubbling on the dial is a great detraction from the watch, and I would pass on this piece as a potential purchase.

Whatever damaged the dial like that could be dangerous to the movement within as well.

Thank you for helping me avoid a mistake!

It was my understanding based on research that many early 7021s have bubbling dials with no other issues and still test for depth. This one is very light compared to others. Its a characteristic of that model's expected patina according to some.

Im still leaning very heavily against unless some vintage Tudor experts come in and say the same. I trust you guys far more than some random articles.

Yes...you can get a range of pricing there. Also click on dealer info. If you purchase directly you might save money as well. Buy the dealer.

Ok, but I think I’ll stick with my own valuation methods, which in no way include C24 asking prices.

Its just a suggestion for someone new. I have 3 dealers, all actual watchmakers, and one wholesaler in NY. They are my personal go to guys. All old school and not runners or flippers.

You’re lucky to have such a great network. If I lived in NY I think my watch habit would probably get out of control. ;-)

I live between CO and NY - CO really doesn’t have much by way of vintage but check out Williams in Cherry Creek North, they started carrying some vintage stuff

I like it, dial warts and all, as that is - but with that dial the price is 4-6k TOOOOOO high and you will not find another correct blue 7021 dial. Papers and box and probably just put together

So hard pass

Next question for curiosity sake. Say seller cut his price to $8-9k. And I found another with nice dial and hands but rough otherwise for $6-8k. Would it be sacrilegious to switch the dials and sell off the lesser?

In terms of pricing reference, I use Chrono24 app for a quick look. Then, off to TRF classifieds, HQ Milton and Bobs. Then when I'm really serious, come to TRF and peruse the TRF good vintage dealers list with websites. Finally, once I've picked 1 and feel good about authenticity, I come here for final due diligence.

In my experience, this approach is almost never cost effective in practice. The exceptions would be if: (1) good examples are non-existent, or (2) you stumble onto a project watch that is a tremendous bargain.

Thank you. I've been looking off and on for a few years...more off than on due to grad school since 2016. I may just have to be patient and focus on modern for now.
