I sold a BLNR to someone in Australia a couple weeks back for $8000 shipped. I am sure if you look around here on the forums you can find one for a decent price. That would be my suggestion. I know you want to build a relationship with a local AD, but like you said, they don't have any watches you want. I would go the trusted seller route here and with the money you save you can buy a Daytona from them in a couple years when the prices drop a little bit more

I have posted on this topic before. I've been given the impossible to get story at the AD in Brisbane only to have them calling me with stock weeks later. I've ended up buying watches at AD's in Abu Dhabi including the apparently impossible to get Daytona. The buying experience was excellent. I phoned ahead a couple of weeks and when I got there they had a Daytona under the counter with my name on it - no pressure to buy and they let me try on watches worth more than a lot of Brisbane houses.

Granted...but I think the important word here is "buying" ... cause out here in Aus all you can do is wait...and wait...and wait...etc etc
At least in the US you do get a chance to buy what you actually want...

cheers

Yep - happy to support my local AD... bought my wife's Datejust last week - 'cause they had it in stock - but my BLNR & Daytona & Explorer were all purchased overseas - IF it 'aint in stock then I can't buy it...

Walked into the Collins St AD, asked for a 114060. Told 6-12 months, walked out after leaving my details. 5 days later got a call saying they would have one for me in 2 weeks if I was still interested. Stranger things have happened

I hope it'll be on your wrist and not in your luggage, Peter!

I've been lucky a couple of times but the fact is that we just don't get the stock here in Oz. That's why I use David Sw as my AD now

It may be different where others travel, but in the USA, it's not wise to have valuables in your checked bags. Items disappear from checked bags all too often. I prefer to wear my watch going through security. Valuables also regularly disappear from carry-on items going through security.

Sorry for the confusion.

Welcome

I purchased my first Rolex in 1986 and have
purchased several since them. I have only bought
two from AD,s in Sydney. The others I purchased
in the USA, Japan and the UK.

I have never seen a SS Daytona at an AD anywhere in Australia
and probably never will.

Waiting two or three month for a SS Sub is a disgrace.

If you get the chance to purchase OS then go for it.

I want to get my hands on a DJ41 blue dial smooth bezel and oyster bracelet, how hard are these to get?
