Why do we never talk about the deals out there ?

We have so many members that always talk about the gray prices and SS pricing on a daily basis, but why do we never talk about the fact we can get DDs thousands below retail , most two tone watches below or at retail less sales tax on some sites. . it’s only those hot models you really have to pay a premium. I like the idea that you can pick up a Pm sub or a dd for 10-20 percent discount and save the tax. Anyone else with me ? If you don’t have to get one of the bot SS models there are some great deals from grays. I just bought a 2 tone watch saved money off retail and the tax. You have to love that

Because people like to brag and show that they have money. Personally I find most of the hot models not to be my taste and would never wear any of them. I’m a simple man, Datejust and Explorer appeal to me. I bought a BB58 and feel no need to get a submariner. So there isn’t much to talk about. So in my book I saved about 5000 Dollars buying the Tudor and I think the watch is quality and subjectively more appealing to my personal taste in the so important looks department.

People want what they can't have.

Just remember that just a few years ago the displays were packed with SS Sports watches and in some cases you could negotiate a discount. Heck you could walk out of the store with your cards and all the stickers too.

Well, I'm not on a soapbox or anything, but I have mentioned a number of times here that my interest now lies in low-demand, vintage pieces when it comes to Rolex and Tudor.

Here are some acquisitions from the last couple of years:

They're not everyone's cup of tea, but I sure like them and they were all bargains.

Both the OP date and Exp II on the those bands looks fantastic. There are some very well priced options out there but I think it depends on what one is looking for.

Dare to desire the undesirable and dare to put some money into a watch with a few problems.

I don't buy what doesn't do something for me and I don't mind having some repairs done at my expense.

A few of my vintage pieces, Rolex and otherwise, have been repaired under the sellers warranty.

I like a watch that has a story to tell, even if its just a few dings or a missing or damaged bracelet.

Those can be fixed or not.

I don’t currently own a Tudor, though they are beginning to draw me in a bit, but I wish they would have kept the 🌹 instead of the shield on the dial. I very much like your collection! Thanks for sharing.

Is like got a ride in a minivan, you dont talk about it (which I did today). Now you get a ride in a Lamborghini, it makes a better conversation

I think this is a good topic. I was just at a local AD checking out a Cellini Moonphase out of curiosity. I was pleasantly surprised to be offered a 20% discount right off the bat, even without my expressing any interests.

I think the current demand on stainless steel models has skewed the fact that there are deals to be had within the Rolex line-up.

p.s. The Cellini Moonphase is indeed exquisite in person. The meteorite moon is beautiful.

I agree. The DD's are steal in Rolex terms! I might upset some here but given the choice between a SS Daytona or a newer heavy model DD and extra CASH, i would not blink and take the Prez!

It's actually quite stunning. I was lucky as hell to get it. It's always good to drop in at ABQ Gold and Silver when I have a little extra change just to see what Ed has in the display case.
