My son saved up and got his first watch

My 16 year old son saved for the past few years and finally got his first watch. Little back story he loves watches and jewelry and actually wants to become a jeweler. He got a dj36 older style with diamonds. Non factory of course but this is what he wanted. I think it’s pretty cool. He is very proud of it.

He likes to shop at icebox? Is he a member of the crips/bloods?

Nevertheless, congrats to him on his achievement

Congrats to him Danny, to be able to save up that much money and want a watch of all things at that age!

Appreciate that he saved up for it. But a 36mm datejust with aftermarket bezel? For a 16 year old? You couldn’t steer him towards a submariner??

Let me take a wild guess...working part-time, more during the summer and vacations. And maybe even some OT here and there.

Thank you

I was going to be more Clint Eastwoody with a reply but you saved me the typing.

That and it’s a Rolex forum. The parents here know people with big lawns to cut and fancy cars to wash.

Not that difficult to make money as a 13-16 year old...….you have to want it, I was flipping baseball cards at that age and doing well(30 years later I still am). Congrats to your son-may he wear it in good health.

My daughter started on online store on Etsy making custom bandanas and leashes for dogs at 14 years old was making about $2,000 per month through her own LLC.

Amazing what kids will figure out when you don’t hand them everything they want on a platter and they have to go figure out how life works. At this point she could’ve had a Daytona if that’s what she wanted.

Right. Hell, I ended up paying my last 2 years of high school tuition totalling about $5k (Catholic school) after my parents decided they wanted to send me back to public high school ~35 years ago. I bet I could've bought a brand new Rolex in 1985 for $5k! I wasn't about to transfer back to another school, no way! I had all new friends, so I picked up more hours at my job and paid the tuition on top of my fun money, etc.
